what makes you "different"?

i noticed that many of us usually post about food and stuff happening in our lives. i remember this used to "bother" me before because there's not much to discuss there, but i realized that doesn't matter much. we're all trying to talk and be supportive to each other and i like that about this place. i really am glad when users acheive something and when nice things happen
i love reading fun facts and interesting stories people share - their own experiences or something they read/heard about.
i don't post much, but i always try to ask questions on discussions or share my own experiences and stories related to topic. maybe sometimes i write too much in my responses, but i believe it gives more "energy" than simple response and that's what i want to "bring to the table". i often don't get the same energy back, but it iiiis what it iiiis.
so, my questions are:
what do you like about myLot and what do you think you're bringing to myLot community?
have a lovely day

Judy Evans comes up with interesting "history" related posts at times...rather the environment related post. Maluse used to give some insights into WWII. She even mentioned that they couldn't afford stalking so they used to paint their legs...in those days...it was a huge surprise for me.

@vandana7 i started following her some time ago and so far the discussions are very open and leave space for other people's thoughts.
i remember Maluse, she had some "serious" discussions. do you know where is she? i don't see her around anymore

I may not be saying this with the right words. I like it when people are open and honest, and discuss feelings about life and I enjoy reading about families and special times in their lives. Good or bad, happy or sad, it’s all about our lives after all. I do like some every day posts. I enjoy some of the book reviews and such. Sometimes, the food posts are a bit repetitive, you know…”I had meatloaf for lunch. I had a meatloaf sandwich for dinner.” But most of the time I get ideas from others about food, so that’s fun.
I skip some posts when I see someone being overly critical or bragging, but luckily there isn’t many of those.

oh yes, people being open and honest here is on a different level. i guess it's because we don't know each other and it's easier to share because of that. nobody here judges anyone, or know anyone we're talking about. we're all trying to understand the person posting and show support or give advice. i love that too
i rarely skip the post, no matter the topic. i only skip ones from people that never even reacted to my attempts to interact with them. maybe that's "rude", but i think it's fair enough

@MarieCoyle that's it. and sometimes i feel so weird when i see that the person is actually responding to others, but not me. like --- why?? what's wrong with me??

Yes, it’s fair enough. That has happened to me as well, where I faithfully commented on a person’s post and they never, ever comment on mine. So be it, after a while, people are going to stop commenting on those kind of posts. It’s all about interaction, after all.

I like mylot as my hangout place to destress myself. I respond to discussions and create one whenever possible. I do spend a fixed amount of time in mylot and that helps me to give quality response to the discussions. As far as I what i bring to mylot, I at times bring thought provoking discussions(purely according to me , never validated with others). I have not often spoke about my personal life or made those discussions. Never felt there is any discussion worthy things in personal life, atleast for now. Plus, I do respond to all my responses in discussion even if I take time to respond to everyone. Enjoy the day!

thank you for sharing. you're right, you bring all the things you mentioned. i noticed that you put effort when you're making discussions and responding, you always put the words so well and share your thoughts in more than just a few words. i really appreciate that
i also noticed that you're one of the members who don't post about their lives here and i think that is admirable - because we all have things happening in our lives that we can post about, but it takes some time to think of the topic to discuss about and that is not already posted. you're doing a great job with that too.
on the other hand - i understand why some of us post about our lives. i honestly feel the need to be more "open" as well. there's not a lot of us here and we're all like a small community. it's good to know about each other, more than just our myLot names and locations. i think knowing about each other and the things we're dealing with can help us to understand each other better and improve our interaction

Back in the day, I feel like myLot had different type of content and people. But it has evolved into a sort of social media blog. We post what we're up to or thinking and others comment.
I'm not sure if I like or dislike it, I'm indifferent. But I am autistic so I can be awkward when it comes to socializing regardless. Sometimes I don't even know what to post because I always question if anyone will care or be interested. You never know what a 'hit' discussion will be.

i don't know when you were here, but i think i could agree with you. back in 2020-2022 there were more people who were posting "real discussions". i don't mind this new concept of myLot because it makes it easier to interact. discussing takes more time to think and put your thoughts in words - specially for us, non-native English speakers
and about discussions, i really don't think that the topic matters much, or maybe it does. i feel like the length of your presence here and the time when you post your discussion matter the most, but maybe i'm wrong

mylot is just like our own personal diary. We write whatever we think and feel like writing.
Good thing here, other members give you a cent of their mind which is most of the time helpful.
in here, you will learn from experiences of different people and that is good

i agree, a lot of us see it as a diary, but it's supposed to be for "discussing" certain topics. what matters the most is that we're all having a good time here and supporting each other. i agree, we can learn form each other and our different circumstances and experiences

My posts are mostly about how we are making this heaven into a hell.
Most want to be left alone, but a few supposed leaders make people fight while they are nestled safely.
Hypocrisy is rife and we should fight against injustice wherever and whenever we can.
I comment on whatever posts that interest me here.

I don't quite know, dear. I am second new here. I say second new because I rejoined the site after several years. My first experience here was a bit chaotic. People getting angry for no reason and arguing about nothing in particular. And misunderstanding what I wrote. Nothing of the kind has happened so far, and I don't think it will because I am older and wiser and more diplomatic now.
