My latest plant purchase

Several years ago, we bought an Albany woolly bush (Adenanthos sericeus) to use as a Christmas tree. It survived for a while but died later when we transferred it outside.
We’ve now bought another one and planted it in a big pot in the garden. The pot cost about three times what the plant cost but, as Vince says, you only buy it once and it will last forever. Although the silvery- green foliage looks harsh, it’s actually super soft and I love running my hand along the branches. When it blossoms forth with its red flowers, I’m hoping it will attract the birds.
It’s an Australian native and I’m hoping we’ll have better luck with this one than we did with the last. It might look as though it's not in the centre of the pot but the foliage is all to one side. Hopefully it will even up in time. Actually, maybe it's not in the centre. It certainly doesn't look like it, does it?

Hearing that the foliage is soft I wish I could touch it. Nope it doesn't look like it's centered but as it grows I'm sure it will be fine. Thats a really nice new plant for your garden.

This makes for a unique holiday tree. What an interesting plant. It does look off-center. Hope it lasts for you.

I would love to see it in bloom. No it is not in the centre and I see leaves all around and not just one one side

No, it looks off-center. Hope it does last you a long time. I love the glistening of the plant, looks like it’s already decorated!

it doesn't look centered from this angle, but i think it could be more centered from a different one. i hope it blooms and attracts the birds, that would be really nice

It does not look to be at the centre of the pot. Perhaps , we would have to wait for some more time and hopefully it will even up. So , perhaps it is all about wait and watch. I was not aware of Albany wolly bush till this post. Not sure , I have seen elsewhere , perhaps it is truly Australian native. Your description got me imagining the plant with me and feeling its soft branches. You need to post photos when it would blossom with red flowers. Lets hope this one have a greater lifespan without any troubles. Have a nice day ahead!

What a charming addition to your garden! The Albany woolly bush is a wonderful choice, especially for its soft, silvery-green foliage and the potential to attract birds with its red flowers. Using it as a Christmas tree sounds like such a creative and eco-friendly tradition!
Planting it in a durable pot is a great decision—good on Vince for the practical thinking. It’s true that investing in a quality pot is worthwhile since it’ll last for years. As for whether the plant is centered in the pot, I think it adds character if it’s slightly off-center! Plants have a way of growing into their own unique shape, and the asymmetry might even enhance its charm.
I hope this new woolly bush thrives and brings you joy for many seasons to come! Are you planning to decorate it again for Christmas? ??

It's now centred. It was doing my head in being off-centre.
