I raised my brother’s daughter as my own, treating her with all the love and care I could offer. We shared a deep bond, and I was there for every moment of her growing up. When she got married, I felt a mix of pride and concern. While I was happy for her, I also sensed the changes in our relationship. Slowly, she began to drift away, and I found myself on the sidelines. She was now focused on her own life, and I, unfortunately, was no longer a priority. It was hard to accept. I missed the closeness we once had, and it left me feeling hurt, as if she had forgotten the love and effort I had given her. I understood it was a part of life, but it still stung. I just hope that, over time, she might remember the bond we shared.
