Placing Bets

No, I'm not a gambler .
But we are jokingly "betting" that a good friend of mine will cancel our coffee get together this week, AGAIN .
She does this ALL the time - ask any of our mutual friends. Although we talk and text often, at this point I don't remember when exactly I saw her last.
Honestly though, she is not one to lie nor make excuses. She actually seems to have bad luck and timing. We all know her reasons for cancelling are indeed true . . . she fell and broke her arm, she caught a bad cold, her dog sitter had an emergency, etc etc etc. We will understand, and we won't get mad . . . because we don't hold our breath over these plans anymore .
At this time, we are scrambling with dates and times to meet. Do you think we might actually get together this time ? Bets, anyone ?

We usually meet halfway - since we live about 45 minutes apart. Actually we were out her way a couple months ago . . . I texted to see if we could stop by just for a quick hello. And it turned out that particular day she and hubby were out on an appointment. I'm telling you, it never works out with this girl!!!!

As much as I'd wish she'd make it next time, I guess the odds are.....

Well, foo foo on your friend. Is she just making excuses or is she really busy?

@celticeagle I guess we are more forgiving when they have other truly redeeming qualities about themselves . . . otherwise, they would have been out of our lives a long time ago.

I think she'll make it. And if she doesn't, do something without her. Have a good day.

@LindaOHio Things just come up . . . .I know it sounds like she makes up a lot of excuses, but truth is these things DO happen. A flake but unintentionally .

@changjiangzhibin89 This is so typical of my friend - but it is sad we expect this of her. Right - she owes us a big party .

Not sure about that one. But my bet is usually on the lottery.

I'm not a betting person either but if I had to bet on this one I'd say the odds are she cancels.

It may possibly already be going that way. She just texted me that the first date choice isn't going to work anymore . . . I have to wait on the 2nd choice, but otherwise she says it might have to be next week. See, we go through all this hassle each and every time - and then - it doesn't happen.

I am sure that you and your friends will meet together in the near future since good breaks do happen after a bad break era.

I know that song . . . I can try to sing it - but it might make everyone not want to go to coffee with me ever again . So guess what - she did not cancel. However it was delayed for over an hour (this, I find out AFTER I left the house). Well, I cannot complain too much .

Hmm, I put the odds at 50/50. It must be frustrating.

She has been this way for years. Long ago, she would oversleep a lot (as she is/was a workaholic) . . . no one would hear from her and no one could reach her on the phone when she was supposed to meet up. That was very frustrating and worrisome.

I'd say you have a 50/50 chance
