Question: Are you in favor of the notion that we are happier when we help others?

I am not sure with you, guys. As for me, whenever I help someone, I feel rewarding for doing something good to others. It is a genuine feeling not to ask for any returns. Unlike some people that I know of, you need to repay for what they did to others. In my view, it is not healthy to do this. Any thoughts about this concern? Image Credit: wikihow.com

It is a priceless act that cannot be bought by anyone. Although we also need to set limitation when doing it. There are some people who are abusive.

Albert Einstein once said something to the effect of doing good deeds to others but do not expect the person you assisted to thank you all of the time in return.

I agree with you. A simple gesture of thanking me is fine. I do not need to let him or her feels obliged to return back the intangible things shared. Although it might be case to case basis.

I am glad that you have. In time, I wanted to do volunteerism again in the future. I used to do this before overseas. At present, it is not the right time to do it. Besides, I am still connected to this UK organization that brings volunteers from different places around the world to help them without any return.
As a human, we have our own passion and interest. I was teaching Korean students in one of the biggest academies in the city. Then, I had acquainted with my...

I think when we can help others, and they are grateful to you it makes you feel good. I always enjoyed that feeling when I worked as a youth coach. Feeling useful and appreciated is one of the simplest yet incredible things one can hear.

That is the best thing, which is being appreciated. It has been a long time that I have been socializing with others. For the reason that I have been working from home for more than a decade now. I must say that I missed being in a crowd.

@dgobucks226 At some point, I do not want to talk with my friends offline. I guess I detach myself with their personal interest and passion. I had changed through the years and cannot dwell to what interest them. I chose not to mingle with them because I cannot dig their way of thinking now.

@Shavkat I agree with you. We can become closed off to what's going on with others when working from home. You miss out on some good conversations.

It is always good to help others. As for the "Pay it Forward" if someone helps you I think it is to remind those who have been helped to be humble and look back on their situation

A life that benefits others more is more fulfilling than a selfish one. That is the secret to happiness though it is not easy to make the change!

i think that's in our nature, to feel the need to help each other. i love doing that and i love giving more than receiving - i'm not expecting anything in return, seeing others smile is good enough for me

I do think we will feel happy in the meantime of helping others,Especially without intention. If ppl want returns when they help others, they will feel pain once they don't receive returns. That help is meaningless.

It all depends on who you help and what you do. If you are helping a person who is good at heart , that is definitely a worthy thing. The person need not be poor , middle class or rich. The act could be small or big in terms of the efforts. Even the time may not count. Again , it is always nice to look at way to repay people for what they have done. We need not ask anyone to repay their dues but doing it oursleves gives us the feeling that we do not owe them anything. We can definitely help them in future . Well good to know your thoughts on same. Have a great day ahead!

I think it depends on the situation. I'll often help someone if I can withut asking for anything in return, but there are times when I wish I'd get paid for it. Then again I try not to lend money. And, only throw in my two cents if I think it'll help.
