My sister is an overachiever. I say that affectionately and truthfully. They don’t just go see the lights one night; they go to 7 various lighted parks/church displays/light festivals in a a period of ten days. She lives in the suburbs of Tulsa, so there really are that many big lighted “things” to go see. One night Hudson was sick, so my BIL took my nieces to the one where you get out and walk through the lighted park. They wanted to get a picture of Santa first. Now, neither believes in Santa, even though Annelyn is just five. They were never told Santa was real, but they were told to never reveal that to other kids. They took this to mean not to let the people playing these parts know they aware they aren’t really Santa or his wife. So Annelyn asks them about their kids, and Amyra asked how much their electric bill was. They’re not trying to be sarcastic, they don’t want the adults to know of their unbelief. They’re really sweet, and a little kooky (but so was I).
*How much of an overachiever was my sister? She used to make copies of her homework so she could do it twice.

I think that the family is enjoying the season, as they should be.
It is great that they told the children the 'truth' and then asked them not to disclose that to others. We were told the same thing, and we did that with our son.
Annelyn looks so tall in the photo, as a result, I thought that she was much older than her tender age of 5.
They are a good looking trio, Dad and his little girls.

I think that is what makes Christmas magical when kids believe in Santa Claus, Heck, I still believe in him but he has not stopped by since I was a kid,

Going to that many lighted displays sounds like fun. One of my favorite things to do when my kids were little was to drive around looking at lights. They would be in their pjs and we would have hot cocoa. Even now I still like to ride around looking at the lights.
I am shaking my head at your sister making copies of her homework

She sounds a bit like my sister. She is always over the top with that kind of stuff too, and everything else really, if you want to know the truth.

When the kids were little, I remember trying to pack a billion things in in a day . . . and I thought that wasn't enough . It's fun memories for the kids . Your nieces understand and I love how they don't want to spoil it for others. Wow, your sister liked to do homework twice??? I would have gladly given her my homework so she could do it for me .

It's December. Let Sis have her fun. I plan to do a downtown walk with a friend this coming Thursday night so that we can look at the lights and window displays. There's a park here that has a drivethrough light display- five dollars to get in it and worth every penny.

Your sister sounds amazing-full of energy and creativity! Her daughters’ thoughtful questions are adorable, and her homework story is truly next-level dedication!

Maybe the assignment was the same which is why she made a copy of it. You have a very considerate family.

it's good to be an overachiever, if it doesn't cause much stress, and the kids are so funny
the thing about homework is crazy
