We all know that consuming a huge amount of sugary foods could lead to a disease called diabetes mellitus. Why not try to control the consumption of sugary foods, especially kids? They can put some warning labels, like in a cigarette pack. In this way, we can prevent acquiring diabetes. It cannot be denied that once you are infected with this disease, it cannot be cured.
Do you believe that a health warning label need to be attached to sugary products?
Are you in favor of stricter laws on the marketing of sugary foods to children?

Actually, if you are diabetic, type 2, but do not require insulin, you can be cured. My sister was diabetic, but not so bad she needed insulin. She lost weight, and no longer has diabetes. My dad on the other hand, requires insulin, and there is no going back.
I think it is up to us be vigilant in what we eat and what we buy for our children to eat, not the food companies. I mean if I’m eating a cookie or candy, by logic, I’m going to realize it has tons of sugar. I think the solution is education, and we should start young. Teach nutrition, and show the consequences of sugary eating. You want to offer snacks? Sell vending machines with pretzels, not chips. Serve fries in the cafeteria? Make them the healthier sweet potato fries. All those things do not sacrifice taste…only sugar.

I agree that we need to be cautious in eating too much of sugary food. In the family, no one has diabetes, either type 1 or 2. However, when one of my uncles went to America, he acquired it. The root cause is eating to much chocolates and softdrinks. Now, he is insulin dependent.

@AmbiePam I agree with you. I sometimes cannot refused to eat or drink something if being offered, especially in my country. It is a culture thing. If being offered with some meals or anything served on the table as a visitor, we need to have some. If we did not have a taste, it can result to offending the hosts.

In the U.S. at least boxes are filled with o many warnings and ingeridents lists that it's not needed. We have nutrion facts for that. As for kids and sugar, allowing some in their diet does keep it balanced and is needed for over all health.

i don't know, i think that labeling could be helpful, but people would still buy it.
but then again - i think that the most important thing is to have boundaries when it comes to sweets, snacks and drinks.

I agree. I also think that glucose is the food for the brain. Glucose can be consumed through the form of sugary foods in the market. As the saying goes, "Eat in moderate." I guess labeling can still be a reminder for the consumers. It is up to them how they will handle the concern in eating them.

I believe that almost all boxes of chocolates, candies, etc have indications of how much sugar the product have. But the consumption will still depend on the people. I agree with rakski, we need to take everything in moderation.
