What Is It?

I am not a 'good sleeper' it seems. I often wake and cannot settle back to sleep. On those occasions I will sit up and read online or just a regular book. I do not currently have a book on the go, so it is myLot to read. As I gaze out of the window, I can see that the weather has changed again. It is more seasonable. We had mild weather, which felt awful, that is when the germs go around and I prefer it cold. It has become cold, it is windy and we are getting snow bands off of Lake Huron. There is a full moon coming this weekend. I don't exactly know what is keeping me awake tonight, the weather or the pending full moon in a few days. Are you bothered by insomnia at times too?

I went to bed too early last night I think, but then again, this happens so regularly that it could be just my way of getting through a night.

@Juliaacv As an inveterate sleepyhead, a warm blanket is what can me fall asleep in seconds in this current weather

I used to be but I knock myself out at night so it isn't a problem now. I am insistent on getting adequate sleep and rest..even if it is by chemical means.

@Juliaacv There is probably something you could take, if it is a real problem you could talk it over with your doc. Plenty of natural products that likely wouldn't interfere, but your doc is the one to advise you on that.

@snowy22315 Not too much 'goes with' anti convulsant medications. I just suck it up and on the weekends try to get caught up with my sleep. Not enough sleep can cause issues too.

I cannot possibly take anything for sleeping, it would interfere with some of my current prescribed medications.

I'm not a good sleeper. Haven't been for many years. What can make me go back to sleep when I wakeup in the middle of the night is YouTube. I have my tv in the bedroom and my iPad next to my bed.

We don't have a television in the bedroom, I found that the little tiny red light, which is on when the set is turned off, bothered me and I'd wake.

@Juliaacv You're extremely sensitive to light. I don't see any red lights coming from my tv set.

@toniganzon I am sensitive to light, sound and movement. For that reason we have blackout blinds, because even snow falling or blowing and the roads being cleared wakes me.

Same as you, I am not a good sleeper. I woke up at 2:15 the past night, I got a book and read for more than one hour before trying to sleep again. At least I could sleep another couple of hours before getting up.

Yes, I was able to get a few hours of sleep in after I went to bed. On Saturdays I am usually up and then I just stay up, but I nap for 20 minutes in the afternoon usually.

@LadyDuck I woke for a bit very early this morning with a headache but I got up and took something to it and returned to bed and slept very well until Ron woke me.

Not really. Workmen in our yard kept waking me up today but I'm normally awake at night. I've always preferred being awake when everyone else is asleep. I hope you can get back to sleep quickly.

I am so happy to be able to see you, know I know when to log on. I have never been a really great sleeper, it is something that alot of people take for granted. But somehow, I am so used to it that in the mornings I am not bothered by it.

I'm sorry you're not sleeping well. I've been sleeping well since I downsized my bed and have a new extra firm mattress. I think it's a cat tail. We have a lot of them here.

Thanks, tonight I should sleep well as I am exhausted. It looks like a cat tail, I haven't seen one in years.

I often wake up after about 3 or 4 hours of sleep. I've no choice but to surf a bit on my phone because I can't turn on the lamp and read a book. (Husband can't sleep with the lamp on.) I would look at paintings or read poetry on Pinterest or watch YouTube until I fall asleep again.

They say that the light from a phone or a computer or television is not good to put a person back to sleep. But there is little else that I can do in the middle of the night. I have emptied the dishwasher on occasion if I went to bed with a clean load in there, but doesn't happen very often.

@Juliaacv Yes, the light from our devices decreases our body's serotonin and melatonin levels (if I read that right). I wish I could do a chore in the wee hours of the night but I'm too lazy to get up and I don't want to make noise.

Well, most times it has got to do with worries, stress or anxiety. My suggestion is tackle things which are in your control .For things which are not in your control , we can pray. There is nothing which can do. Before going to bed , read or watch some thing nice or beautiful and think of good times or future good times. A week of that , should get things back to better ,atleast while sleeping. If still does not, I would say visit doctor to check on any ailments. I get bothered at times by sleeping late or having my sleep cycle disturbed. These are things I do to get better. Good Luck. Take care!
