Sausage, egg and cheese croissants, or the Croissanwich as Burger King calls them, are a favorite of mine, although when it comes to buying them in the store, I rarely buy them. But occasionally, I will pick up a box. This time I got Jimmy Dean. But normally I just get Great Value or the Kroger brand since they are pretty much exactly the same and cheaper. I only got Jimmy Dean because when I went to Ruler at the time, they didn't have the croissants available, just biscuits, and the only croissants they did have were with bacon. I wanted sausage. The store ones are never as good as one fresh from Burger King. Not by a longshot. But the store bought ones do fill the bill. My only complaint is that the croissants themselves are always a bit chewy no matter what brand you get. You would think they'd have perfected this by now from frozen to microwaved without getting a chewy croissant. At least it's a tolerable chewy.

I like the Jimmy Dean variety. Our Walmart doesn't carry any other brand so I've never tried them.

@porwest They have the bacon, egg and cheese croissant but not the sausage one in Great Value. I don't like the bacon. *shrug*

Not even the Great Value brand of them? My Walmart has both Jimmy Dean and Great Value options.

@DaddyEvil Ah. Makes sense. Yeah, that was the reason I bought Jimmy Dean for about 50 cents more per box. All they had in the Kroger variety was the bacon ones, and where they did offer sausage, it was biscuits, and I don't like the biscuits.

Some frozen things come out good after being microwaved and yet other things are disappointing. Sorry that your croissants are chewy.

Is there an option to heat them in the oven?

There probably is, but to me it would defeat the purpose.

Yeah, bread is always a problem in the microwave. Have a good day.

Weird how that is, hey? But yeah, it always comes out kind of rubbery.

have you tried putting them in air fryer on "dehydrate" and then reheat them? i had some frozen buns and when i did that - they were so good like they were just baked

I do not own an air fryer, so this would be a very difficult task to try. lol

That's good to know. I usually don't get any frozen breakfast items other than biscuits. Great Value brand is good in biscuits too!

@porwest I would give anything for some of my grandmothers homemade biscuits straight out of the oven. I didn't start to appreciate them until I was like 18 and she passed away when I was 21. I have never liked canned biscuits or the ones made with the Bisquick mix.

@kareng No matter where they come from or how they are made, I have never been able to appreciate a biscuit. lol. I am probably weird, but they just aren't for me.

I have never liked biscuits. When it comes to breakfast sandwiches, it's either the croissant or the muffin. Biscuits just never did it for me.

that looks good. Unfortunately, Burger King here does not offer that one here. I have to see if we have something frozen like that

@porwest true. That would be a good breakfast offering

Weird that they would not offer that there. This breakfast sandwich, for Burger King, is ALMOST as much of a signature offering as the Whopper is.

@porwest I enjoy them. I get up pretty early in the morning, at which time I usually eat cereal and have a cup of coffee, but I'll throw a Jimmy Dean in my lunch bag when I head to work, and then heat it up and eat it when I get to work or shortly thereafter.

Despite the slightly chewy croissants, they are still quite good.
