It's raining out!

December can be a telling month in Northern California. Californians love to use the word "drought," and the truth is, we ARE often starved for water.
I have lived here 30 years now. In the 1990s, when my friend Lisa and I went to take care of our horses virtually every day, Winters here were "hecka" rainy. We would have to slog through a bog to fetch our horses in their pasture.
But in the 2000s, our Winter rains became less dependable. The next 20 years seemed quite dry. Over the past three or four years, we have started getting more rain again in Winter.
The bottom line: I am always glad when I see rain here.
How is the weather where you are?
Photo is of rain drops on on of my balcony plants.

I have often heard here that the climate where I live is similar to that of California. And here, for about 7 years, the word "drought" seems to be the most used word. A couple of beautiful lagoons even have dried out. Last winter we had a couple of unheard of rains twice. But then it was dry again. We´ll see next year. I´ll check on the behaviour of ants. If they pretend to even get into my house to fetch food, next winter it will be rainy. Or so, old people used to say.

Weather patterns have surely changed a lot over the past 15 to 20 years.
Here, we have less number of rainy days but higher average rainfall per day on those days.
I also sometimes hear of some areas in California getting snow.
Is that true?

Do any Trekkers go to Mt. Diablo?
And have you gone near this mountain?

It is below freezing during the night and might warm up to the mid-50s after lunch. We've had two freezing rains in the last week. No snow yet, though.

@DaddyEvil When it gets down into the 20s, I look for my Winter coat in the closet.

@TheHorse Maybe I will have my husband's cousin take a pic with her phone. Much easier that way.

Got the news that some of the Himalayan areas around 2000 to 2200 M have got early snowfall.
They used to get snowfall by January or February.
Places like Shimla, Nainital and Kasauli.
One place got such an early rainfall after 2012.

This year, Spring was more normal than usual because it wasn't totally dry. It is cold here now and there's a little snow on the ground.
