Friday Coffee Talk

Happy Friday Everyone! it's cold here this morning but the sun is shining. At least the sun gives the feeling that it's warmer out than it actually is. My daughter bought solar lights to string along the bushes in front of the house. They look so pretty when lit but the past few days of rain we had no lights. I'm hoping that the sun will recharge them and hopefully tonight the outside will once again look festive. Guess there's pros and cons to solar energy. I'm getting to the end of my list of people to buy gifts for. I can't wait to be done so I can relax. My neighbor across the street always brings my trash cans from the curb and puts them in front of my garage. For the past few years I've given them a little something as a thank you. This year I got them a gift card and will put it in their Christmas card and drop it in their mailbox. The next person on my list is the dog groomer and I think I'm going to do the same thing (a gft card). I still haven't written out my Christmas cards. They've been right here next to me all week and I just keep ignoring them. Maybe ignoring is the wrong word but I always seem to have something else to do and figure I'll do it later. My daughter in laws birthday is next week so I have to send her card by tomorrow so she gets it in time. As long as I have to write out her card I might as well add the Christmas cards to my things to do today. Aside from being all involved with Christmas there isn't much else going on here. Half of me is excited about the holidays and the other half can't wait for it all to be over The best part is having the whole family together but the preparations can be exhausting.

I would go nuts if I had to prepare for a large family gathering no matter the time of year, I never do well in crowds of more than 2 or 3 people.

I am on top of my cards, but I have one more to send. The holidays do take up a bit of time to prepare for, I agree.

Sounds very festive and so neighborly. I know that mixed feeling of excitement and wishing it were all over. Enjoy!

I still need to buy a few Christmas gifts. Will probably do it during the weekend. The temperature drops to 12 degrees. Feels pretty cool.

I know someone who has a birthday Christmas Day. I’m going to mail her card Monday. Hopefully, she won’t get too harried, and can enjoy the day.

George and I are just happy to have each other. And that's all we can really ask for. We were never good on christmas tradations. This will be the second year that I can't send his sister a Christmas card.

The preparations can be exhausting, I share your sentiment with that. I have had a wrapped gift sitting on the dining room table all week. It just needs the ribbons and bows added to it, but have I gotten around to that yet----no. I have 4 other gifts to add the ribbons and bows to, so it is more than a 2 minute job. Tomorrow morning we have a birthday party to attend, followed by an hour's drive and then we will arrive at the family Christmas party. Christmas really IS here, it just is coming over me slowly and then pooof, it will be gone.

I feel much the same as you about Christmas. Having our sons living away makes Vince's siblings feel they have to take us under their wing and make sure we're not languishing around on Christmas Day. I wouldn't mind just languishing but it's very kind of them to include us in their plans.

I am done with Christmas decorations but not with Christmas shopping. I have sent some Christmas cards today. I am still thinking of what to cook for Christmas.
