LooeyVille’s Sixty-Pound Gift

We’re a family of sorts here at myLot. I’ve met quite a few myLotters and it’s been a major blessing. Of course, I live in the same town as one of our myLotters, @LooeyVille . Earlier this year she gave me one of her spare weighted blankets. That, however, is NOT the gift referenced in the discussion title. Three years ago next week she announced that she was going to try the Weight Watchers “point system” diet. I saw that discussion and told her that I’d go on it (again), too, to help her and give her support as she tried it. Long story short for her: it didn’t work. She has more success on the low-carb diet, so she abandoned Weight Watchers and their points. Short story long for me: I stayed on it. And yesterday, just short of the three-year anniversary mark, I hit the sixty-pound lost mark. Here on myLot we get to make friends, make a little money, share experiences, and learn things from others. Occasionally we can get a major blessing, like losing 60 pounds and improving health immensely. Thanks, Looey! The photo is the “armadillo crossing” sign they have up at Texas Roadhouse, which is one of Looey’s favorite restaurants.

@FourWalls You're more of a western star. LOL. There is a difference. Good for you!

@thislittlepennyearns — I don’t go out west that often, and I usually like country more than western. Thanks!

Are you in Kentucky again? My friend is moving there. Him and his wife. Building a house. Heard its much cheaper to do it that way. Straight from California. I think he wants me to come, not sure why? Pretty sure his wife does not, but I am the one that told her where its at. They literally moving to the place I told them I saw in the Marines. With the blue grass and can see Cincy from Kentucky. Can't make this up, never opening my big fat mouth again. I am open but might be safer in Cali for me with Trump in office again.

Congratulations. I did good when I went low carb. Never tried weight watchers.

I love Weight Watchers because you never have to be burdened with cravings (which killed me on low-carb). Fiber One makes a fiber brownie in different flavors (like chocolate and cinnamon cake), and that’s a sweet dessert for one point.

@FourWalls I never went all 7 days and that helped a lot. I allowed myself a cheat day to help. Thinking about doing it again after Christmas to get rid of what I put on while we had Adeline a couple of years ago.

@FourWalls I was at 162 on Thanksgiving. Today I am at 168. I'm fine with that. I'm good with anything under 180. You-know-who doesn't like me at 162 or 168. He says he wants something to grab on to.

I'm glad that weight watchers worked for you. I think it'd give me way too much anxiety. If low carb works for her, more power to her.

@FourWalls I know apps help keep track of points and know what foods and food groups are "good and "bad" but that's not what gives me anxiety. It's having to stick to a set number of points, and plan my meals around a point system. Or worry I've done the math wrong. I like to eat what tastes good to me and not think much beyond it.

Thankfully, I have an app for the points, so there’s no anxiety involved.

It’s hard to keep that commitment, but eventually it stops being a “diet” and becomes a lifestyle. That’s when it really gets easier.

Firstly, congratulations on such a great goal. Different diets work for different people.

They do, indeed. There’s no “one size fits all” approach to anything. Some people do well on certain medications that I don’t take because it does nothing for me.
