We had a day of guns and people acting crazy here.

For the record, I live in a fairly quiet bedroom community, not far from the main city. Like most such smaller cities and towns, ours has the good areas, and a few not so good areas. It's been fairly quiet for some time now, until today. I was watching mainstream news about the school shooting in Wisconsin, before I was supposed to leave home for an appointment. I shut off the TV, and got myself ready to go, got in the car and went 2 blocks. Big road block with several squad cars blocking the road, they directed everyone coming from my little subdivision to do a U-turn and go back. I hadn't heard any sirens close by, but then again, I wasn't listening, I had been watching TV. Our main high school is about 5-6 blocks away, depending on your path. Someone outside the high school had shot a lot of rounds, not hit anyone or anything except some empty cars. They streaked away, and left a lot of shells and also live ammo...so far, they have not been caught. So the high school, and all of our other local schools, were put on lockdown, as well as some nearby businesses. I went home and then there were a bunch of sirens, etc. so I went inside and stayed there, and cancelled my appointment. The Dairy Queen, which is part of the strip mall area about 4 blocks away, had been shot at, no one hit, but that was way too close to home. So, for calming entertainment (bad joke here) I stayed home and watched the information on the school shooting. I did a lot of thinking today about guns...about shootings, and about our world in general. And I don't like our world like this. Is this even fixable? How many more innocent children are going to die? How did a 15 year old girl get a gun today, to shoot with and then commit suicide? This is not what I ever imagined would be the world we had to live in, and our children and grandchildren had to live in. Sure, there has always been some violence, but never to this constant level. Way too many, way too close, and way, way too deadly. Be safe, friends.

It comes from years and years of mental illness being ignored and looked down upon. It's been bred into so many people now, that there are lots and lots of incapable people running around.

@MarieCoyle Right and also the way kids were raised changed, to not be disciplined. That played a part also.

@MarieCoyle I seen a fb meme mentioning that healthcare CEOs are afraid to go to work now. Then it asked about how kids feel going to school. The CEO makes a lot of money so is paid more attention to.

It was like it was surreal. I got home and it hit me that I was not really scared so much as I was just MAD. This is not the way any of us want to see our kids and grandchildren live, or ourselves, either.

I am just settling down so that I can get some rest. I have no answers. People are not being taught to listen to one another; to talk, to appreciate and acknowedge the beauty of life. I am glad you are not hurt physically. I wish I could envision a brighter future for our ailing America.

I don't have answers, either. I just wished for a better world than this, for all of us. A brighter future would be a wish for pretty much the entire world at this point, for one reason or another.

I wish we could go back to the 60s and 70s. Things were much simpler then.

Yes, but many places dealt with much over the Vietnam War. It was a different time.
