No More Going Barefoot For Me

Well, it finally happened. I can't go barefoot anymore around the house.
The podiatrist said "always wear good shoes" but I thought he meant when I was out wearing shoes somewhere. Then my friend Lisa said her foot doctor told her to never go barefoot and always wear slippers with support.
Well initially I thought that was stupid and wrong. After all, I'm not a slippers kind of girl. I've gone barefoot my whole life.
But then two mornings ago it was very painful walking across the floor first thing in the morning, but when I put my shoes on to go to the gym they didn't hurt anymore and I walked on them for over an hour. This happened a few more times throughout that day and the next until I realized that going barefoot around the house (in socks) was making my feet hurt.
Well I don't own slippers, so I put on a pair of "Hey Dude" shoes that I have, slip-on shoes with a sole like slippers and I'll be darned if the pain went away.
So I've ordered two pair of slippers online from 32 Degrees that have soles in them so that I can navigate the indoors of the house without foot pain.
Do you wear slippers around the house?

Only when its cold. I generally go barefoot or have socks on and my feet never hurt.

It sounds like you've made a smart adjustment, even if it wasn’t what you initially expected! It’s amazing how much of a difference the right support can make for your feet. I’ve heard similar advice from podiatrists before, but like you, I’ve always been more of a barefoot-at-home person. Still, your experience is a good reminder to take foot health seriously.
As for slippers, I do wear them around the house, especially in the colder months. I like ones with good arch support because they’re cozy but still functional. It’s great that you found a solution with your "Hey Dude" shoes while waiting for your new slippers to arrive—comfort is key! I hope the ones you ordered work perfectly for you. ??

I wear Ugg slip ons inside, as I am not really a slipper person either, but when I do I have a very good supportive pair of slippers.
The hey dude shoes that I have looked at are not very supportive, I hope that they do the trick for you.
My doctor has warned against those as well as sketchers for poor support as he claimed that they were made of materials which stretch out too easily.
