Do you know this word?
Autophagy is a fun word to say.
Here's what it means.
Auto of course means "self" and “the phagy part means "to eat." So putting the two together you get "To Eat Self" or "Self-eating."
Okay now what does that mean?
Autophagy is how your body can get rid of its damaged cells and get new healthy ones. It's like recycling.
So why do you want your body to perform autophagy? Well, there are some health benefits of it, like getting rid of bad proteins in your body that might lead to diseases down the line.
Unfortunately, autophagy decreases as we get older, but with certain diets like keto and the one I do, Carnivore, you can increase your autophagy and sort of slow down the aging process.
Intermittent fasting helps too.
My husband introduced me to this concept. Did you know about it?

@looeyville I can’t think of any occasion when I’d be using this word, unlike ostrogobulous.

i learned about this, it's not new to me. it's good that you learned about it too and that you know why you're dieting and what's going on in your body.
