Tragedy at Christmas Market

Oh, Lord why? I wish these maniacs would leave certain places alone especially schools, places where many people gather, and of course, during this holiday season Christmas Markets. The facts: A car plowed into the crowd at a Christmas Market in Magdeburg, Germany. There are many injured with the death toll rising. Among them are two dead and one was just a toddler. The attacker has been arrested and is a doctor from Saudi Arabia. Inside the vehicle, they also found an explosive device. This is so upsetting I send up prayers for all involved.

@rasmasandra I’ve just been thinking about that while having a lovely time in Edinburgh’s Christmas market. Heartbreaking.

@xFiacre glad you are all right and enjoying yourself. However, were I at the market in Edinburgh I would feel scared.

They can't hurt the maximum of people if they don't visit these places. It is a pact these evil beings have made.

Oh no! When I read your title, I immediately thought of what that could be - and hate to say I assumed right. How awful and heartbreaking . How can any human think to do such a terrible thing .

@RasmaSandra Oh - you're so right - such people shouldn't be categorized as "human" - they are not like us .

Yes and he was a doctor living there enjoying the life Germany gave to him. Disgusting why they have to come to other countries and do hateful evil acts.

@sallypup it makes me think that like in the Hollywood movies suddenly the Devil takes over a person and then such things happen. Unfortunately, I think the reality is that this was one deranged person,

@RasmaSandra A person would have to be deranged to do such an act.

Yes. This is very shocking indeed. I fail to understand what goes inside minds of some that they start to cause so much destruction. If someone has been victimized by any individual why bring those who are not involved in the equation?

There have been so many instances where violent attacks have taken place at crowded events. They are an easy mark for terrorists, political activists and mentally unstable people to take lives. In our world today, it makes having a secure border and vetting anyone from another country who wants admission all the more necessary.

@dgobucks226 the irony here is that the Chrismas Market had a border for security but left a gap large enough for a car to get through in case of any emergency, Then the sh---t hit the fan so to say,

@RasmaSandra Germany has had a prior history of being lenient when it came to migration of people from other countries. Overtime, it only leads to problems in my view. Even in the U.S., what has gone on in Aurora, Colorado is the beginning of a trend that will intensify if stricter measures are not implemented. Although, Germany has been tightening controls on immigration at its borders in 2024, perhaps the damage is already done. There has been rising tension among German citizens and the immigrants who have entered Germany.
