Good morning, friends.
Today, while starting to mylot, I discovered that Christmas Eve is in 2 more days. And that I´m not healthy yet.
So I decided to call Dixie and propose a Plan B for Christmas that would suit us all.
I want to stay at home. In my home, in my bed and, should I need it, near the best bathroom of the house.
If I stay here, there´s my bed at their house should they need it for the people from Australia. Or for the small fry that are also going.
I´ll go on taking chicken broth and plenty of water. And if I want to go to sleep early, I will.
Dixie accepted after underlining that she accepted it only for my sake. Humberto agreed. He had pneumonia some years ago and it is not an easy thing.
And so that Dixie understood it perfectly well, I told her that when I got well we could ask Humberto to take us out for lunch or dinner to those good restaurants we know about.
So, friends, I´m going to stay home for Christmas. I won´t be sad. I´ll be relaxed.

Today, while I was talking to Dixie, Humberto got in the middle of the conversation and told me that pneumonia was no small deal.

Thank you, Anna. I´m not much for holidays now. I´ll survive. But I DO want to survive my back pain.

@LadyDuck I should have sold this house before. This is not the best moment to sell here.
After this stay at the hospital I´m thinking about renting a smaller place instead of buying. If I sell my house, I´ll have money to live until I die and then some.

I am really sorry. For other reasons, I am also not much for holidays this year. My husband memory is getting so bad, we are selling the house to move in a smaller place, it's a lot of work to do without help.

I'm glad they saw it for what it was. Your comfort and ease. Good for all of you. Happy holidays.

That’s the smartest course to take. I have lost track of how many times I have had pneumonia, but I know it’s so exhausting and really requires a lot of time and rest. Staying home in your own bed is smart. You can go to Dixie’s when you feel better.

@MarieCoyle Dixie told me today that after pneumonia you had to check your lungs, chest and the like for months.

I know. I remember that when Humberto had pneumonia, it took him some time to get completly rid of it. And he was not my age.

It stinks to be sick at the holidays, doesn’t it. You had 364 other days to be sick, but NO, it shows up at the wrong time!
I think you’re absolutely correct to plan things based on your health needs. Pneumonia is nothing to mess with. And I’m praying that you get well quickly!

Humberto told me that about pneumonia. But I´m not terribly keen about Christmas. My last real Christmas was 25 years ago, when my grandson Tomás had cancer. That last Christmas for a 7 year old boy is called in my mind "Tomás Christmas".

@FourWalls I am quite happy to be alone. It would have been very stressful to talk to other people and feel guilty for not helping more. I was going to make hummus and other appetizers but I cannot cook now. I can only boil potatoes and make chicken broth. Which is what I want to eat anyway.

@wolfgirl569 Anita will have her own Christmas at her home. And I won´t be seeing them either to give them anything. I´ll be alone. And to make it easier, I´m waiting for a package of baby back ribs to eat on Christmas eve.

@marguicha If Anita is coming maybe she could help. If not just give them in the tins.

I agree. I have books to read and I have the big TV in front of my bed. And I have no wishes to eat holiday food.

I first thought of helping Dixie, but then I discovered that I´m not much of a help now.
