Hypothetical Question For You...

I have a hypothetical question for you all. Say a young couple has some credit card debt. They eat out one time a week at a Chinese restaurant. They keep up on all of their bills. Should they forgo the eating out once a week and add what they would spend onto their monthly credit card payment or have that one-time-a-week splurge?
Picture is from my collection.

I don’t like debts. I buy what I can afford or I just don’t buy it. I have read that interest charges on credit cards is averaging 25%. Who can afford that?

I think splurging once a month is enough. I hate debt and would want to pay off that credit card. Have a good week.

Personally, I think once a month eating out at a restaurant is enough of a splurge.

From my past experience, I'd say do whatever it takes to get rid of the credit card debt . . . don't add anymore to it as much as possible. I learned to cook a lot of restaurant copy cat recipes to save money. Also shaving costs in other areas and saving up cash to have that splurge meal helped too.

Well, millions of americans carry some kind of debt. There's no changing that. But, as long as they aren't drowning and can pay their bills, go for it. You need something to look forward to.

It would depend how much it costs and how much they are able to pay on the credit card.

That's true. Two people eating a meal at a Chinese restaurant is maybe $30-40.

So, basically $200 per month to eat Chinese food. Like @BarBaraPrz, I think once a month would be plenty.

That is a hard question to answer, I guess it would depend on how important that once a week going out is to them, I got rid of all my credit cards when I left for Latvia in 1994 and since then I have only used debit cards and spend only that which I can afford.

They just might need this little treat to make them think that life is worthwhile. Just sayin'.

i guess it depends on how much they're in debt and how much the meal costs. i think everyone should "treat themselves" from time to time, if possible.
