It is very unusual for a library in Detroit Michigan to reject an overdue book that was checked out in December 1974 by a customer who now lives in Chicago Illinois saw that the book that he checked out called "Baseball's Zaniest Stars" that was written by Howard Liss. The library in Detroit told Chuck Hildebrandt the good news that the book he checked out in December 1974 was no longer in circulation and the Warren Public Library had no record of Chuck checking out the book. The officials with the library told Chuck to keep the book and he was not going to a fine which would have been around $4,563 dollars and 75 cents. Chuck has decided to raise the fine money that will go to a not-for-profit literacy group via crowdfunding. Link is upi.com/8881734457671 via @upi

I am in agreement with you since Detroit has a baseball team and the book would be wanted inside of the library.

It would have been cheaper to just buy the book than to pay that big of a fine.

I see the book is only worth $20, or so, on ebay. The fine is huge, and they should have a clause that limits the fine to less than $100.

That is a good idea of a fine for a late return of a book in a library.
