Aiden is the grandson of two of my brothers. Confused? His parents are both the children of my two brothers.
I was the only one who was against it and I did not interact with both the niece and nephew for all these years.
Yesterday he lands up with his father for that extended family meet. Since I had decided to treat the lot as a group and not individually I managed to handle the situation very well. Aiden was all out to reach out to me. What else could I do but accept his warmth and friendliness.
I am not sure if we will ever interact again but he was eager to befriend me and even thrilled when he had to pose with me to take a photo when I handed over a prize for something he had won
Such is life. What say?

@allknowing So hard when family members take a path you are convinced is wrong, and of course in this case it is not the child’s fault though he has to bear consequences of parents’s activity.

You are right there. But I could not have just had a connection with the little guy and ignore his parents. I am happy I handled the situation to the best of my ability and the kid was extremely happy.

I still cannot reconcile and am glad that it did not show on my face.

@allknowing One of my sisters started a mess this year. She must take the first step since she started the nastiness. I know too well about painful family situations.

@sallypup What shocked me was that none of the others thought it to be wrong
Hope your issue gets sorted out

But ignoring and letting them do what they want may not quite right.
