An interesting Day.

Today was an interesting one, as I did some internet research, sent some speakers home, and got to jam with two different guitar players.
The first bit of internet research was on the recent plane crash in Kazakhstan. It appears that the evidence shows a missile strike near the left tail section of the plane. It's the kind of missile that sends shrapnel into (and through) the plane, disabling hydraulic systems, and rendering the plane difficult to control.
I also researched a song a piano student brought to me yesterday. She says it's an Afghani song, and I was able to find it on YouTube. It is like many Bollywood songs, very Western in its chord changes. I will be able to teach it to her. She is about 11-years-old and reminds me (for some reason) of my High School buddy's late mom. I enjoy teaching her. She has been with me less than five months and already has Carol of the Bells under her belt.
I got to jam this morning with the fella whose speakers I had just restored. We got the speakers into his SUV without damaging our tired old backs, and then played a few tunes on guitar. He's a good player. I would like to be in a band with him some day.
At Guitar Center, one of my fellow teachers had I had no-shows at the same time. So we got together and shared our research on Fell on Black Days by Soundarden. It's my favorite "existential angst" song. A "grunge" song from the '90s, I think.
So, I know what you're wondering: Did I grab a bottle of Scotch and settle in? Yes I did. I talked to Sukkhi and Singh, my drug dealers, and had a laugh with them about the lottery ticket buyers. I stood there for awhile behind the ticket buyers, but didn't care.
I hope @Vandana7 reads this and realizes that we Americans (vulgar as we are) have a big influence on "popular" music around the world.

@jstory07 It is pahari raag....Our music is divided as per the sequence of notes that come in it...and the notes that have to be stretched or are more pronounced. That girl is incidentally a ghost or pretending to be a ghost...LOL
We have variations of almost all notes except Pa (So) and Sa (Do). Most have three variations. We believe that people should be easily able to sing three notes beyond the Do up, i.e., scale up, and three notes below Do down. When they sing beyond that, we are thrilled...LOL With variations incorporated, we get more variety, especially, when we blend two different ragas...or sequences. I uploaded Mishra Bhairavi song in my box...quite like your music....many such songs.
Here is a Raag Khamaj number...which is one of my favorites.

He drank too much of BAD scotch that is why he thinks American music is better than our music....
That is why ...he cannot recognize the melody in this one...

Yeah...like the rocks and boulders falling off the cliff when there is some landslide..evil grin.
Ours are filled with melody.................awesome melody, feelings, romance, serenity, lyrical excellence...not to mention complexity
This is one of my favorites of Lata Mangeshkar - emotions of a girl trying to determine whether she is in love and worrying whether it is the right course...you all don't explore such territories of emotions in your songs.... I uploaded this because this is closer to "Afghani" music....LOL...the recording is very bad - Lata never sounded as harsh as she is sounding in it.....equipment of that era... Its a story about a princess later queen falling in love with a slave, and being killed for it...
