Have you heard of the term "veganuary"? The root words for this term come from vegan and January. The main goal is to eat vegetables and refrain from consuming meat for the whole month. I bet that meat lovers will not give it a go for this kind of idea. I must say that I did this before when still working in a Muslim country more than a decade ago. It was not easy not eating any meat for the whole year.
Do you have any prior Veganuary experience?
How was it?

No, I haven't. I'm definitely a carnivore and know/have heard very little about vegetarians or variations of such.
I do eat a lot more vegetables than I did in my younger years, though.

"heard very little about vegetarians ...."
That means that you have heard little about me or Vanny.
If I recall correctly, she is a vegetarian and I too.

Yeah Happy New Year 2025 wishes to you too !!
Yes we had less discussions about that.
Can I presume that you would be more active here this year than in 2024?

@DaddyEvil As I looked back during my childhood years, I was not into veggies during my childhood years. Now, I love munching them without any second thought. I remembered my mother used to catch me just to eat them before.

Glad I do not have to experience it lol, I am a meat lover. I eat veggies but must have some meat or fish on the side. I feel like my stomach is grilling when I eat pure vegetables lol.

I cannot explain myself during that time. It was like I was dying without meat in my system. My translator even suggested asking a meat seller to provide pig's meat. But I refused to fall into this idea. I do not want to be in a difficult situation if I do it in Taajikistan.

No first I have heard of it. I like meat, but I would have harder time giving up milk, but now that I think about it, that's not really true because I like almond, coconut milk etc. I have gone vegetarian for a month at a time

When I was in elementary to high school years, my siblings and I loved to drink milk. However, when I entered university, I experienced having lactose intolerance, which I think is weird. Only to find out that I am having iron deficiency, and it was corrected. Being a vegan needs to have the strong will to do it. In my case, I need to stop due to religious beliefs and the like in Tajikistan. I was not given the time to withdraw from eating pork meat in particular at that time. The best thing is, I was able to survive in a hard way.

I am a vegetarian, but I have heard this concept for the first time.
In India and some other countries, one can easily be a Vegetarian or Vegan but in many countries I have heard that it is a big big challenge for those who do not eat Meat.
Let's see how viral this concept of "veganuary" goes !

I am not sure how it originated. All I know is that some people cannot live without meat on their plates. Since I experienced not eating them in Tajikistan, I was able to survive. However, it was not easy at first. It is because I stopped having meat upon arrival in this country.

@allknowing I am also a sweet tooth, but I eat them at random now. I am scared of being inflicted with diabetes mellitus.

I have spent 4 years not eating meat whil I was in Middle East. Only Vegan and not even Egg. It is interesting for people who never tried before . For people doing it for religious reasons , it is pretty easy. There are many I am aware who restrain meat and egg during special occasions and then are some who do the same for over a month. The only thing is we should have good self control and be good to not hold any desres over food. I was not aware of the term veganuary. Considering the definition , I do have experience. And with good control on mind , this is certainly possible. Take care!

My self-control at that time was being tested. At first, it was not easy. Eventually, I was able to achieve with flying colors. There are times that some locals are invited to their own way of events at home. That is the time that I can have some cow's meat. They usually use it for a fried rice type of cooking, and beef is one of the main ingredients. I must say it was a good one to consume.
