How to survive New Year.

Big red wine, blue cheese, Brie, goat’s cheese. Not a soft, mild goat’s cheese but a very ripe one that sends clouds of farmyard vapour swirling around the kitchen when you bite into it. Pâté, chutney, piccalilli, garlic bread. New Year’s eating.
Now it’s all gone and I’ve taken my overfed carcass outside wrapped in a heavy coat, new scarf and battered black fedora. Underwear as well of course, and boots. Under the big fir tree and in fine drizzle I settle on an old, decaying log with Clonakilty whiskey, a newspaper to sit on, my thinking addled with Kierkegaard, and there I flatulate till I’m done.
How was your New Year?

Sounds like a good New Year's. Mine was quiet and lonely. Have a good day.

I have almost everything nearby. But I won´t touch liquor until I finish my dose of antibiotics. I don´t want another pneumonia nearby. And Kierkegaard and Heidegger are in the second floor so I´ll just read what I have on my night table or online at the Gutenberg project.

All that cheese is on my diet, so I could partake of that deliciousness. It’s 5:55pm on NewYear’s Day and I’ve just come back from visiting my sister and her family. Her New Year’s spread was teriyaki chicken and southwest salad. It was quite delicious.

So far I am doing what I can to enjoy my day after the terror attack in New Orleans happened overnight.
