Happy New Year and happy Thursday everyone! temperatures are getting colder but we have sun today. Looks like it's going to get much colder the next few days as well as possibly some significant snow by Sunday into Monday.
As much as I enjoyed the holidays I can honestly say I'm glad they're over. It's nice to get back into my "old" daily routine and I've missed my little naps in the afternoons.
This afternoon my son is coming to put a new banister on the stairs as the current one is loose and I rely on it going up and down the stairs. I'm afraid it will come out of the wall and I'll fall so he thinks a new one will be better than just trying to tighten the current one. I'm leaving it all up to him and glad that he's always ready to help.
Between today and tomorrow I want to make a grocery list and either do a pick-up or delivery just in case we do get the snow predicted.
I feel so sluggish from all the food and desserts I've eaten over the holidays so it's time to get back into healthier choices and cut back on the sugar.
That about sums up what's going on here today.
Hope everyone has had a good start to their New Year.

Please be careful until you can get it fixed... We don't need any accidents happening to you, either.

Yes, the holidays really keep us busy and as much fun as they are, they do interrupt our routines.

I'm glad the banister is getting fixed and even happier that I get to see my son he's squeezing me in between his jobs but at least i get a hug and get to see his smiling face.
I'm already tired if winter and it's really been killing my knees. I'm sure the cold weather causes all your aches and pains to act up too

Happy 2025 to you too!! I'm actually looking forward to getting back into a normal routine again. As much fun as the holidays were they really left me exhausted.
My daughter will be back to work next week too and it was confusing for her to have off the two days in the middle of the week and then have to resume working the two days after.

Happy New Year to you!
As Chinese New Year is at the end of Jan., we have a lot to prepare including arranging family year-end dinner, buying gifts for visiting relatives during the New Year, and preparing lucky money for the young ones.

I’m glad your son is going to help you with that repair.
I think I’m coming down with something like one of the many germs that have been in my house. If I wind up sick I’ll have to do online ordering and curbside pick up as well.
We got about 2 inches of snow today if that. Temperature drops to low 20s tomorrow.

@Marilynda1225 my throat is getting more sore by the hour I’m definitely getting sick. I’m exhausted too and my little one had a short nap while we were on the ride home today so she will be up late.

Happy New year! certainly hope you don't get sick but I guess it' hard when germs are in the house.
I'm hoping the snow predicted for Monday doesn't turn out to be a lot. It's cold here too and the cold really flares up the arthritis in my knees.

Hope your new year is off to a good start. The holidays really took me away from being online as much so now I can get back into my daily routine and enjoy chatting here more.

Happy New Year, Marilyn!
Stay warm out there! It's warm here now, but we are going to be slightly cooler in coming days - but no snow or rain in sight. I too have been looking forward to "routines" again - including minus the too many holiday sweets .

@Marilynda1225 Our scale, we gave to Daughter .. . it sits in her bathroom and we don't go in there . I have resisted buying the clearance on holiday sweets - even today - so many good stuff out there, but I had to force myself to not buy them. Honestly I have not gotten into a routine just yet . . . I want to chill and do nothing right now .

Jusst feels kind of hard to believe how time has flown by. I'm glad the normalcy is slowly returning, too. We need it around here.

@Marilynda1225 I just have to encourage him to do things. Get him moving as much as possible to make his legs work.

@kaylachan I can understand that. My legs get so stiff when I sit for too long and this damp cold weather is really killing the arthritis in my knees which makes me want to sit more.

Happy New Year!
I'm glad your son is going to replace the bannister for you. Falling down the stairs could really be dangerous!
The forecast for my part of Missouri shows a 70% chance of snow mixed with freezing rain Saturday and Sunday. I hope it's mistaken.

@Marilynda1225 I'm glad your son got the new banister put in for you.
We only have stairs going up to the front and back door. No railing of any kind at the back stairs and they're steep! I don't use the back door anymore. There is the railing around the front porch and I do use that when climbing the front steps. It's all brickwork there.
Good luck with getting enough snow that the HOA shovels it for you.

Happy New Year to you too! ugh your weather forecast sounds horrible especially the freezing rain part. I'm just hoping that we got at least 3 inches of snow so the HOA comes and shovels.
My son put in the new banister and it's nice and sturdy. Stairs is the biggest inconvenience of a 2 story house.

@DaddyEvil in my younger days I never even thought about whether steps had railings/banisters but now I'm conscious of that especially if I'm going somewhere and I need to get in or out of someone's house.
My banister that came loose is inside so I use it multiple times a day.
I don't blame you for not using your back door if the steps are steep and there's no railing..

The new one is sturdy and I don't feel as if it's going to pull out of the wall. One big disadvantage to a 2 story house is the stairs.

Happy New Year and happy Thursday! Sounds like you're getting things back on track after the holidays. Glad your son is helping with the banister—it’s always great to have that support. Stay warm and safe with the colder weather and possible snow coming. Wishing you a smooth grocery run and a healthy start to the year!

I'm in the same boat as you. I ate so many sweets over the holidays that I really need to get back to more healthy choices and moving around more. It's too cold to walk outside right now but I have plenty to do around the house to keep me busy.

Hope you have a wonderful 2025. Hope the rain isn't too bad. Rainy days really are dismal and gloomy
