Officials with the San Antonio Animal Services answered an emergency call from a concerned citizen about a spider monkey running loose in the Poteet and Jourdan sections of the city on Tuesday December 17.
The spider monkey was caught by the Animal Services without incident as the monkey was running over fences and running on top of rooftops.
After the monkey was caught by the animal control officers, the monkey was returned to its owners 13 miles south of San Antonio where they were informed that having exotic animals as pets is forbidden.
The animal control officers issued citations to the owners of the monkey.

@Deepizzaguy I would attribute that to wildness or how they are treated in captivity.

That is true since someone could have harmed the monkey.

Weird. Why do they return the poor monkey to its owners if it is forbidden to have them?

I think that the animal officers returned the monkey to the owner before taking to the zoo even though the sources of the story only mentioned that the owners were given a citation for violating the city ordinance.

I am happy that the monkey was captured and likely taken to a zoo. The owners of the citations deserved to be fined for violation of a city law.

It is good that some states of America have tightened the rules about keeping exotic animals as pets. Only the Zoo's should be allowed to have them.

I am in agreement with you since a monkey is not an animal that my relatives want to have as a pet.
