A gift from my sister

A very Happy New Year to you all. It hasn’t started off terribly well for me as I have a very painful ear and am battling to hear much at all at the moment. I went to the doctor on Monday and I’m sure I’ll be fine soon.
The photo shows a lovely little tin which I was given at Christmas by my sister. It contains chocolate-coated nuts and fruit but the tin was barely more than half full. But that’s the norm nowadays, isn’t it?
The bird is a blue wren. Australia has several varieties of this little bird. The one that is most common in our area is the ‘splendid blue wren’. These little birds become very quiet and will feed from your hand. They particularly like cheese.

Thanks for the good wishes. I hope 2025 is kind to you and yours too. I'm not sure what is going on with the ear. I have an appointment on Monday to remove the wax which will be a start.

Happy New Year to you and your family!
That is a beautiful tin! And yes, those are usually about 1/3 full of paper and cardboard instead of chocolates.
I hope your ear heals quickly.

I'll find something to put in the tin. It's too pretty not to keep.
