A gift from my sister

A very Happy New Year to you all. It hasn’t started off terribly well for me as I have a very painful ear and am battling to hear much at all at the moment. I went to the doctor on Monday and I’m sure I’ll be fine soon. The photo shows a lovely little tin which I was given at Christmas by my sister. It contains chocolate-coated nuts and fruit but the tin was barely more than half full. But that’s the norm nowadays, isn’t it? The bird is a blue wren. Australia has several varieties of this little bird. The one that is most common in our area is the ‘splendid blue wren’. These little birds become very quiet and will feed from your hand. They particularly like cheese.

Happy New Year to you and Vince! Hope your ear feels better soon - is it an ear infection? What a pretty tin - my daughter would love that as she loves anything "birds". I know, product quantity has gotten rather skimpy.

Thanks for the good wishes. I hope 2025 is kind to you and yours too. I'm not sure what is going on with the ear. I have an appointment on Monday to remove the wax which will be a start.

Happy New Year to you and your family! That is a beautiful tin! And yes, those are usually about 1/3 full of paper and cardboard instead of chocolates. I hope your ear heals quickly.

It's a bit distorted because of the angle but it's very pretty.

I'm getting the ear seen to on Monday. It's probably mostly wax and because they itch a lot I keep digging at them which no doubt doesn't help.

Thanks. My ear is a bit better but I have an appointment on Monday to see an audiologist. I think the problem is mostly wax-related.
