The social worker finally called me back. Someone in physical therapy will be calling with a ballpark figure for PT and someone from the nursing staff will be calling about the showers. I will also speak to her about having the staff doctor check out my husband.
Weather permitting we will be seeing him on Sunday.
Thank you for your continued support, friendship, prayers and thoughts.

The staff doctor should check on your husband. I am glad the Social Worker is facilitating your requests. Some places they expect the Social Worker or Social Services department to do marketing and damage control and social life and many other things beyond her job. Those quarterly meetings are important, I do not know or remember if this is something family can attend or not.

You can either attend or they have them on the phone. Since I have trouble getting around I opt for the phone meetings.

I’m glad you got called back! And before March, too! Even if you don’t know anything, at least they acknowledged that you exist, which I guess is a good start.

You just have to keep after them and keep calling.

It would be very beneficial if they had monthly inter-departmental meetings with you.
The dietician could speak about his food tolerances and preferences, the nursing staff could address his health and well being, the activation staff report on his interactions and so on, and then come up with a game plan to work on and how to implement it.

I agree with you Julia as that would be so beneficial. I know when my mom was in rehab for months they had those meetings and I was able to get answers to my questions.

@Marilynda1225 Participation all around is good communication especially when the resident has dementia. The family can really help fill in the gaps.
I miss hearing about your Mom.

It’s too bad you can’t just go see him today, or before the snow hits if it’s coming your way. We got maybe 3 inches Thursday evening. Now we have all of today and most of tomorrow before we get any more snow.
That’s good that you are pursuing him seeing a doctor since he doesn’t have a primary doctor.

@LindaOHio 6 is a big snow in Mississippi. We have gotten six inches several times and it is beautiful, but a horrid situation. They aren’t prepared for it here.

I'm glad you were able to have a conversation with the social worker and hope that you can finally get an answer to the cost of PT. I also hope you're able to have him seen by a doctor and I wonder...does he still have the catheter?
Fingers crossed the weather cooperates so you can visit on Sunday.

He no longer has the catheter. He says it "fell out". He gets confused.

@LindaOHio I wondered if he was still at the same place. It's sad things can't get done with the first call.

We shall see. It usually takes multiple calls to get some action.

They don't really check his vitals like they did in rehab. I'm assuming he is OK.
