Do you have a favorite bird (or least favorite)?

I love a Cardinal, whether it be male or female. Of course, there are more colorful birds that get my attention, but I saw a male Cardinal feeding a female Cardinal once, and they both looked so striking together.
My stepmom is really into birds, which has gotten my dad into birds. I got them a clear birdhouse that attaches to the bay window in the dining room, so while they are eating they can watch the birds up close. Finally, a bird house the squirrels can’t get to.
This is a little picture I have. I love how the small rocks were made to look like birds.

I guess I don't have a favorite bird exactly - love 'em all. I enjoy the mourning doves that come into our yard . . . they are cute but goofy . You're right - squirrels will get to everything I put out for the birds. My daughter is the bird girl . . . just showed her your small rock bird art - she thought it was the cutest thing !

Most of the birds around here are crows, ravens and seagulls. We have the occasional finch, mudswallow, sparrow, and startling. Starlings are pretty cool close up. Their feathers look like oil spilled in water--though I think they're mainly black.
Favorites--don't know that I have favorites, but I guess they would be hummin'birds, which I see the most, and Orioles, one of which I saw recently.

@AmbiePam They were all over the place when I went to Junior college. Then I didn't know what sort of bird they were, but that "oil in water" thing was the first thing I thought when I saw their feathers.

I love the doves and the cardinals in my back yard. I DO NOT like the blue jays (pesky, bossy brats). I also don’t like hawks in my neighborhood, because I know what they’re looking for (squirrels and kittens for lunch).

I think the purple martins are gorgeous birds. That reminds me I could have gotten some birdseed. Well next time

I love Sparrows because they look cute. They are tiny and they sound very nice.
Thanks for sharing you story with all of us.

That is an adorable picture.
Like you, I love cardinals too.
They are so pretty, inquisitive to watch and have a sweet song.
I remember watching one for about an hour one day.
It sat on the side of the driver's door on the car and looked at itself in the sideview mirror and pecked at the mirror and chatted away with itself for quite a while. My husband heard me looking out the window and laughing and he joined me and then said, hey, that's my car he's gonna scratch the (black) paint on it.
Then I laughed harder.

I don't know if I have a favorite bird. I like cardinals and all birds. When I moved into my apartment, there's a tree line across from my patio. The first year there were mourning doves in the trees. Last year there were crows. I wonder if I'll be around to see what moves in this year. I'm planning to move, but don't know when.

Of our local birds, long-tailedtits (sorry, 'bad word' police means I have to write their name as one word) are very cute. And kingfishers are stunning. Magpies are perhaps my least favourite because they predate other smaller birds' nests, also cuckoos for their breeding habits!
