Can you believe it?

I am wondering if we can believe the current weather forecast. It says we are in range for anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow in the next day or two. And frigid temperatures as well.
Road crews believe it--they have brined all the roads around. Energy company believes it. They sent out text messages saying they are getting prepared for outages. Grocery shoppers believe it, they are running wild in the stores trying to make sure they have food they can eat even if they lose power. Also food to eat staying at home even if they do have power.
I had to pick up a prescription, so I bought just a few things. We actually have plenty of food, even plenty to eat with out power. We also have a gas stove so we would be able to cook in the event of a power outage.
I am not positive I believe all the doom sayers. Or the people who are hoping for a snow day on Monday from school.
So can you, or do you, believe your weather forecasters?

My part of Oklahoma wasn’t given dire predictions for the coming cold snap like so many. A 60% chance of a little snow with temperatures in the mid 20s isn’t bad; especially since the snow, if we get it, will not be plentiful. I believe that as it sounds normal for this time of year.

We are supposed to get an ice coating first, then snow on top of it. All last winter, except for the week right around Thanksgiving 2023, they would predict wild stuff and it would happen everywhere around us, but not us. I want a snow day. We get paid for them when we have them.

I do not mind snow, but we are supposed to have ice first, underneath it.

They were mistaken a lot last winter and we did not get much. It has to catch up sometime, so this may be the year.

We seldom get the precipitation that is predicted right here in my little spot on the map.

@GardenGerty This whole area is generally hard to forecast, as we might get a northerly or southern flow, and knowing what will prevail is hard to predict.

If it can go from 60 as a high tomorrow to 76 for a high on Monday. Then back down to a high of 53 On Tuesday, then it's entirely possible that you'll get the predicted snow.

I judge more by what my body says about how things are.

I have a propane stove and always tell my mom and sister to come cook if they need to when the power is out but they never have.

Sometimes I get really weirded out by some of the doom sayers but, most I am able to by pass. It's just when I am really depressed that I am most vulnerable.
I hope that the weather doesn't get too extreme where you are. I'm sure you know it's always smart to be prepared and have things on hand in case you can't get to shop.

I have milk, bread, eggs, and so forth. Frozen things and fresh things and canned things. I can always make a meal if I can get a heat source.

@GardenGerty .......I like to chop onions and freeze them. No one likes that chore so having some on hand in the freezer is nice.

Our weather forecasters seem to err on the side of caution these days. But it's a bit like crying wolf. People get tired of evacuating after doing it four times when the fire never gets anywhere near them. Of course, the one time they take no notice of the warnings will be the time they get caught.

I am pretty much always prepared food wise, and we have all of our prescriptions filled. I have a hard time believing because they were wrong a lot last year.

Yes, I believe it. We have been under a Lake Effect S**w Warning for several days. So far we have about 6" on the ground. I don't know if we will be affected by this other storm. Stay safe, stay warm and have a good weekend.

I do not mind the snow, but I do object to having an ice storm first. It makes things treacherous.

Last year we did not get much, so as you say, we may be due some bad weather.
