More Lego for you to enjoy

Having shown you my niece’s Lego model of the Eiffel Tower, I thought you might like to see some of her other Lego creations.
This shows part of a street scene set up on top of a dresser. I think the units were probably bought as kits rather than being made up from individual pieces.
She is a real dynamo, has an engineering degree, plays a number of instruments and participates in three different bands.

That is definitely impressive. Add patience to her list of attributes because I think it would take a lot of patience to build all that.

I didn't mention all that she does. She is secretary of one band, runs sausage sizzles and other fund-raisers to raise funds for the band. Others help of course but she is the main instigator, picks up whatever needs to be picked up, packs up, stores stuff and is isn't above roping in her Dad, uncle and aunt to help as well. We love her dearly. She lost her first-born (age 8) from a brain tumour. She is one gutsy lady.

That is amazing.
I have a new-found admiration for Lego since the girls are into it these days.
We bought them sets that each contained the yellow car pictured here.
They also love the connex which are clear coloured plastic tiles, flat, with magnets inside of them along the edges, they can make some pretty impressive towers out of them. Or 'castles' as the girls refer to them as.

@JudyEv I think that the children still have to use their imagination when they build with lego, some things are kind of premade like the car or little birds or animals that come with some, but it is up to the child to build the birdcage for the birds and the garage to put the car into.

Lego is an impressive company with all the creative ideas they keep coming up with. I used to play with Legos as a child, but we didn't have themed sets, it was just a box of random Lego pieces. Now, the sets are very detailed and intricate.
There is a massive Lego store at Disney World, and we go there every Christmas to look at all the sets and displays they have. I remember the Eiffel Tower being the big trend about 2 years ago. They had them featured all over the Lego store.

@JudyEv I always loved seeing what my imagination could create each time I sat down to play with the blocks. Sometimes, I had no idea what I was going to build until I got in the thick of it. It’s almost like the blocks would take on a life of their own and I was simply the hands to connect each of the pieces.

@moffittjc I can understand that. Vince and a mate sat down to play with the son's Lego one evening and ended up with a cog-driven crane which used a fishing sinker to drive a matchstick into a lump of plasticine. The funniest part was watching them trying to get up off the floor once they'd finished.

Our sons, one in particular, played with Lego throughout their childhood. Back then, it was mostly random blocks. Sets were just starting to come in. I can understand the attraction. I think putting Ikea items together would be simpler than some of the Lego models.

@JudyEv Actually Lego is not only for kids. Some adults also have a passion for Lego creations.

Nice. At one time, my nephew Scott was reported (in an official Lego forum) to have the most Lego in the world, or something. I'm sure he'd appreciate this.

That is something! My son was crazy for legos when he was a kid. That is what he wanted for Christmas every year.

The detail is lovely. I noticed a paint-brush at one end. I think that might be what she uses to dust the pieces with.
