Music is capable of reducing stress, anxiety and bring us to a stable state of mind. It also can help in lowering blood pressure and heart rate. There are many specialists who recommend soft music to improve sleep in people battling insomnia. Most of us have knowingly and unknowingly used music to relieve certain stress and pain. Most drivers and commuters often listen to music to kill the stress of travelling. Interestingly, I happen to see a hospital where doctors recommending patients to listen to music before surgery and post-surgery. They believe the rhythm and melody of music can soothe the minds of people and can reduce the some of the mental agony and physical pain. They feel the music distraction is a good way to relive pain compared to medicines. Have you ever used music to relieve pain or stress?

To relieve stress I have used music often. Not for pain though. I have found that it also helps to sing, maybe more of an effort thanpressing a button for music, but once started even just humming works well for stress relief.

No not really. I would use it sometimes to fall asleep, but most of the time it's more stimulating for me.
