Day 356 – Battles
1 Chronicles 14:1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house.
2 Thus, David knew JEHOVAH had established him as king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
3 Then David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters. 4 These are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7 Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8 Now when the Philistines heard David had been anointed king over Israel, the Philistines went to search for David. David heard about it and went out against them.
9 Then the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim.
10 David inquired of Elohiym, saying, “Will I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
JEHOVAH said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11 Thus, they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, “Elohiym broke through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore, they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
12 When they left their elohiym there, David gave a commandment, and they burned them with fire.
13 Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley.
14 Therefore, David inquired again of Elohiym, and Elohiym said to him, “You will not go after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 15 It will happen, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you will go out to battle, for Elohiym has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16 Thus, David did as Elohiym commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.
17 Then the fame of David went out into lands, and JEHOVAH brought the fear of him upon the nations.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Conqueror
Deliverer
When do you know everything is going your way? You fought hard for your position, often seeing it go to someone else. You worked hard, doing whatever you could to accomplish your goals. Then one day it came together, and you achieved your goals. Everything fell in place.
Samuel anointed David as king over Israel while Saul was still king. He was a teenager. No one knew him. Yet, Elohiym knew him and called him a man after His heart. He went to Saul’s court, fought in many battles and earned a reputation as a great leader, gaining Saul’s anger. He fled from Saul when he tried to kill him. Yet, David continued to honor Elohiym in everything he did. Then one day, it came together. Saul died and Israel anointed him as their new king and Hiram sent everything needed to build him a house.
David’s battles weren’t over. The Philistines came after him in battle. Yet David relied on Elohiym and Elohiym gained the victory by his hand.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, He promised to go before you into battle. Your battles aren’t fought with slings, arrows, or spears. Your battle takes place in prayer. Your battle takes place whenever Satan comes against you to tell you you’re not worthy, you’re nothing. When you pray, study your Bible, spend time with Yeshuwa, He will defend you. He will come against your enemy and bring victory into your life. You will know Yeshuwa established you for His purpose in the same way David knew Elohiym established him as king when Hiram sent supplies to build his house. Yeshuwa will give you everything you need for your life when you trust Him with the details.
You will always have battles. Satan will try to win the battle for your soul with every temptation he brings against you. David fought many battles against the Philistines during his reign as king over Israel. Elohiym came through for him every time because David trusted Him to bring about the victory.
What battle do you face right now? Do you need to see victory in your health, finances, family relationships, work relationships, friends, neighbors. Give it to Yeshuwa and watch Him bring about victory in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, I need You in the battle I face. Help me trust You and not give in to Satan’s lies. Help me to be like David, who trusted You in every situation in his life. Bring about Your victory in my life and let me know You are always with me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What I like about David's character in this chapter and in any chapter of the bible, is that not only David trust the Lord, but in every decision he made, he made sure that he inquire to the Lord - he is 100 percent dependent on God all d throughout his life.
There is no passing day he did not rely on God, except on that day that he committed adultery and murder. But David admit it right a way... and ask for forgiveness... and with no complain he accepted God's disciplining in his life.
Thank you for sharing David's life here, it is very motivating and uplifting. God bless.
