Do you know any unique facts about animals you can share? If so, please enlighten, if not, here are four animals who have some unusual facts about them I can share with you: DOLPHINS -We all probably know how intelligent these mammals are, they even have the ability to communicate. Dolphins produce a variety of vocalizations, usually in the form of clicks and whistles. ***But what is unique about those dolphin whistles are the mammals use them to name each other. You might say each member of the dolphin pod has "a signature whistle." SLOTHS -These slow-moving mammals can give a turtle a run for the money. Sloths are usually found hanging upside down in a tree limb and have very low metabolic rates which contributes to its snail like movement. No wasted energy here. ***But what you may not know is that sloths are excellent swimmers. Thank the animal’s arms, which are both long and strong. And what is even more astounding is their ability to hold their breath for up to 40 minutes, which is 30 minutes longer than a dolphin. Hmm, seems that slow and steady turtle's pace is not so bad after all. Holly metabolism! QUEEN ELIZABETH'S II COWS -Now most cows just make do with sleeping in a barn with some bedding or pasture grass in nice weather, but that would not do for the Queens cows. ***Her majesty's herd of beef are supplied with "WATERBEDS." Yes, you read that right! The monarch’s 165 dairy cows spend much of their time snoozing and relaxing on waterbeds. Now that's "milking it for all it’s worth." BEARS (AND HIBERNATION) -For those bears that hibernate like the Grizzly and American Black Bear you would think their slumber would be awakened by a trip to the bathroom. ***Nope, these bears don't "poop at all" during hibernation. Somehow, they convert their waste into protein. Scientists have yet to figure that one out! And it's a good thing too because bears also have an "acute sense of smell." Yikes! em]w00t[/em] So, which animal fact(s) caught your attention! Some Source Info- Best Life and Wikipedia Animal Behavior, Strange, Unusual, Funny Facts

@dgobucks226 I suppose the bear's bodies pretty much shut down during hibernation. Can you imagine how hungry they are when they come out of it?

@kareng That's an interesting question. I had to look up just how much weight bears lose. I've seen nature programs that show just how skinny the bears look after coming out of hibernation and its shocking. They lose anywhere from 15-30 percent of their body weight. One grizzly hibernating in Canada lost 100 pounds! Now that a fasting diet

This is a fun article, thank you for the nice information, but don't you know in a romantic story it sad that... Dolphins are the guardians of two people in love. But of course in real life its not...coz the real guardian is the author of love...God. Sorry dolphins are really cute and sweet.

I was thinking I’d at least know one of these trivia but I have not heard of all of them. Very interesting facts! My favourite one is the waterbeds for cows. How cool is that!

I was unaware that sloths swim to find food. I thought they just hung out in trees all day. Boy, those cows sure have it made in the shade. Wonder if all that rest produces a premium milk product

From your list , I loved the Dolphin one. They are intelligent and fun loving animals. It is interesting to have a unique signature. Never knew they were very unique indeed. And they have figured it out through their whistle .Let me add one more to the list. Octopuses have three hearts! Two to pump blood to gills and one to pump to the rest of the body. While Octupuses swim , this third heart stop beating as well! Not sure if there are other mammals which have more than one heart. Thanks for the interesting animal facts .

The Octopus is a great addition and has some unique features. They are also very intelligent like the dolphin. The octopus also squirts ink to deter predators. Thanks for reading and adding another to my list!
