First freeze warning of the season and the year.

Most people wuld not believe me if I told them we do get at least one freeze warning a year. Most people think of Florida as always sunny and always warm. But, there's a reason we've also been nicknamed the sunshine state. Although it only hit 58 today it was quite plesent outside. Now I know what your northerners are thinking, that's warm. For us, too because that's not really cold. Hell I went to George's doctor's appoitment rocking shorts and a sleavless t-shirt. But, when we have a cloudless day we're usually in for a clear night. And, that's where wind chills come in and things can possibly freeze. Hence the freeze warning. Tonight's low is supposed to be 37, but it could easily feel like 25 or lower. And there you have it, a freeze warning. Well, on a more plesent note, George's appoitment with the nuturionist went well and we're triling three cartons a day instead of four. He's actually slightly over weight and we want him to loose a little. We wound up seeing the doctor as a walk-in because he is stuborn about letting me clean the stoma site daily. Which means I'll be going through a lot more sponages to help keep it clean. I can also leave it open to air, as long as it doesn't look inflamed. He should start feeling better once he lets me treat it properally.

It's good that the doctor reinforced that cleaning! I know he is probably hard headed like most men!! Glad the visit went well!

I want to clean it daily. Especially seeing what I see and knowing what I do. The doctor also saw what I'd been seeing, and agreed with me. It isn't so serious it required a trip to the local e.r. but he supported my desire to clean it daily. He also said, if it looks good, then I can leave it open to air. Which will prevent rashes because there's a couple inches between the bumper and his skin.

@kareng Yeah. If it's not wet and oozing, then he should be able to leave it open to air.

No, not really.. I still find it funny. People see George pushing my wheelchair, using it for balance, and think I'm the one who needs the help. And that I'm the patient. I have to tell them he's the patient and that he's using my chair like a walker. We do it this way because he really doesn't need a walker at home, and when we go out, I need my wheelchair. So My hands get a break, and he gets a free walker.

@kaylachan Hey, if it works for you both, it works. It probably helps him steady himself, so it sounds like a win to me.

I think George mood is really improving and I am happy for you. George is so blessed for having you taking care of Him, and I think you are also blessed and happy to be with him everyday. God bless you both.

He likes it when I do. And he's more than willing to let me. He will ask for things he thinks he needs even if I don't understand him.

"Tonight's low is supposed to be 37" I use to live in Fla & your right almost 20 years ago when I lived there it was super nice in the winter season but like I said 20 yrs ago. Things have changed over the years since I was there the weather has really changed cause when I was there we hardly ever had below 30 degree weather or snow. As you can see I left Fla, & moved to Central Indiana & the 1st yr we went into winter it dumped 3 ft of snow & that's the most snow I'd EVER seen at 1 time & now 20 years later, we're 4 degrees & the wind chill is -O

Is it just stubbornness that keeps him from letting you clean it more often?

Yeah. It is. It's tender when I do clean it, because it's become inflamed. So that's why he doesn't want me to clean it.
