Yours truly is unwell.
Usual suspects - cold, cough and intermittent fever.
Plus today I have had a lot of sneezing.
What is unusual is that I have this kind of Flu conditions in severe cold conditions (as per my place).
Constant sneezing & headache not only means a day off, but also makes doing day to day things tougher.
Unexpectedly, The book I have been reading "Only Time Will Tell".
(Sir Jeffrey Archer).
After resuming it today, I got quite engrossed.
I felt quite better and read 64 pages - most in a day for any novel in a long time.
I am not sure if it was just a plain psychological thing or do books really help?
Well, you can share your thoughts.

I believe it must be due to cold.
Also; I believe you felt better after reading 64 pages of the novel. I had almost similar experience a few years back when I had fever and I read a book - Freedom at midnight". I had borrowed it from my friend. In a night I read nearly 300 pages. It was a sleepless night for me; but I was not feeling sleepy in the morning. Later I purchased the Hindi translation of the book and read it again. Have you read the book??

No I have not read the book. I am not into active Non-Fiction reading except for a few Sports books by Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar plus a few non sports ones.
It is not as if I have anything against them but somehow I have not tried them much.
May be I would do in the coming times.
And yes, as from your and other responses, it seems as Book Reading does helps.
I have faced a kind of "slowdown" in Book Readings especially after September due to multiple reasons.
I have plans to devote more time to book reading this year.
Have a nice evening!

I’m glad that you feel better. I do think a good book can distract us from our worries or pains. Anything that gives one joy can make us feel good.

Indeed, books and other similar things like Movies can help us distract from pain.
Of course, if condition becomes much worse, only medical intervention can help.

Yes it did. I think keeping oneself occupied mentally helps a lot in such cases.

I hope you feel better quickly.
Uhm... have you taken a Covid test? Your symptoms don't sound like a cold but could also be flu. I hope none of your family have caught the sickness.
I often read a book when I don't feel well. I don't know if it relieves any pain but it keeps my mind occupied so I don't think about not feeling well.
Take care of yourself.

I am recovering and much better. It was a combination Flu.
Fever has not come after yesterday morning and I hope it stays that way.
Plus nose blockage has cleared.
A nasal drop too helped.
Seems like books help you too in mental engagement.
Have a nice day!!
