how do you do that?

i might be 10 days late - but i wish you all a happy new year. i hope you and your loved ones are well and happy. i hope you achieve the goals you set for this year and i hope you have a lot of lovely experiences and moments
how have you been? anything new "in your corner of the world"?
i realized that i'm spending too much time on mylot - so i decided to take some time off. i haven't done much, but at least my screen time looks better
honestly, i was thinking about some users when i was gone and i kinda missed them. i feel like it would be good to have some people on other social media, just so it's easier to talk to them from time to time. but still - i don't feel too comfortable with that, so i'll have to stick to myLot
how do people even do that?
can someone with "richer" myLot experience tell me how these things go. how do people get so close here that they feel comfortable enough to share their accounts/numbers to keep in touch?
what a rollercoaster of a discussion
hope you have a nice day

Happy belated New Year!
Well, we're in a snowstorm right now... I'd rather it dump snow on other people and leave me alone... But, at least I don't have a reason to go out and shovel the driveway. My daughter and I went grocery shopping a few days ago and picked up most of our prescription meds we needed.
I met a lot of my friends online on other social media sites that have since shut down. When I came to myLot, I put out a general message to everyone I could think of to come here... Some did, some didn't. I really miss the friends who didn't follow me here for one reason or another.
I'm in touch with several myLotters off myLot. I use WhatsApp to visit with two friends in India, I talk with two Indonesian friends on Discord and two Filipino friends on Fakebook. (We only use private messages on those other sites because we aren't interested in anything else that goes on with those other sites.) myLot is the only site I actually talk to people on the public part of the site.
Those people feel like my family and while a lot of other myLotters are good friends, they weren't interested in talking off myLot...
I hope this helps you understand. Enjoy your day.

@aureategloom You're welcome.
Thanks. The forecast says it could snow until around 6 pm... We shall see. The weather station that gives our forecasts is about 112 km away so they're often mistaken. It doesn't help that they're at a lower elevation than my city, either.
I'm kind of shy but don't have a problem talking with people online. In real life, now that I'm retired, I try not to meet new people and stay home most of the time. (All my working life I was in Customer Service and forced myself to talk to people who needed help.)
I message a lot of people on myLot. Some things are too "sensitive" to put on the public site.
Oh, yeah, as I said, a lot of people here feel like my family. I've been on myLot over 9 years now and have gotten to know a lot of people really well. (You may have noticed that I didn't mention American friends in my list of people I talk with on other sites. Most of them have my phone number and we either call each other or we text if we want to talk off myLot.)

thank you for sharing!
hope the weather calms down. but then again, if it doesn't bother you - let it snoow, let it snow, let it snowww
i met many people online too, back in time when i just wanted to make friends and accepted friend requests from everyone. now i only speak to my friend from India on whatsapp.
i never brought anyone to myLot - i told my friends about it, but no one was interested. maybe because they would need to write in English
sometimes, when i feel like something might be "too harsh" or "too private" - i message people on myLot. i talked to some members before, but we never spoke off this site.
i noticed during Christmas time that some members are close off myLot and that was so amazing

I'm just conjecturing and not speaking about myself, but I think some on My Lot make more of an investment of their time than others and it becomes a part of their life. Perhaps they are all alone or have few outside connections and socializing on this site provides them with the companionship we all need.

all of us have lives and friends outside of myLot, at least that's how i see it. myLot is just another place where we can meet new people and talk to them. it is just so interesting to me that some people managed to create such a nice bond over time. that's what i realized during Christmas time and i think that's really nice. so i was wondering how does that happen

Happy New Year. Many people here become close friends and even family to me. I have addresses for a few, some I have added to FB, and I even have phone numbers for a couple of them.

The start of my new year was with ... ahem... fever. Hope there's no more sickness year long.

I guess when people get a feeling of trsut( and this depends on the individual) , they could potentially share their social medias with others. However, there are few (like me) who are not into other social medias and hence they may not share at all. I had accounts in facebook and others .Have not logged in over 3 years . Most times , I see political posts or fake posts. I lost the interest there. I would say mylot is the only place I feel better as there are better things to talk and listen. Again , I am just 8 months old in mylot and considering many others , I am still a newbie. Well, have a great weekend!

It just takes time and patience I had one person ask for my physical address but I've been on here for years. If you get close with people, it takes time. You can go at your own pace.
