It Has Been Awhile, But Finally

Ordering Chinese to be delivered is something we have not done in quite a while, but tonight we decided it was time. We absolutely love Chinese food, and I am trying to remember when was the last time we actually ordered any? The fact that I have no idea is a good indication it's been at least a few months. But it is always good eats and never disappoints. We always order enough for our main dinner and to have plenty of leftovers, and this time was no exception. Ordered two entrees, both with pork fried rice and egg rolls. Mine was beef with broccoli. The wifey got orange chicken. I also ordered 4 spring rolls, a quart of shrimp Lo Mein, an order of shrimp Mei Fun, and the order comes with 8 free crab Rangoon. All said, our total bill with delivery and tip (and I tip 20%) comes to around $67 and we'll eat off this for at least two or three days. More than cooking at home, but sometimes you have to treat yourself. Besides, it's just good eats. What's going on your dinner table tonight besides @FourWalls elbows? Provided you invited her, of course. Otherwise her elbows should not be on your table.

Chinese sounds good tonight. I wouldn't be able to eat the seafood but beef and broccoli is always good!

@porwest Yes, I do. Pretty loves shrimp but won't buy it just in case cooking it in the pan we use will cause me a problem with cleaning the pan. (That's fine with me. I don't like the smell of shrimp. )

Yeah, if i remember right, you have a seafood allergy. When it comes to Lo Mein, Mei Fun and even fried rice, 9 times out of 10 I get shrimp. But I have no allergy and just love shrimp.

@DaddyEvil Gosh, the smell, the taste, the texture. I don't mind any of the above. Not to wear out a phrase, but it's just good eats, man.

I had a Boca Burger, apples, fiber bar, and yogurt. Now I’m enjoying peppermint hot chocolate. I haven’t had Chinese in eons.

We usually get the same delivery driver, and even she said, "Man, haven't see you guys in a while," when she came to the door. We just love Chinese food. In the past we'd have it at least once or twice a month.

We have an amazing Chinese restaurant right next to my work, and I find myself eating there way too often on my lunch break. But the food is so good, and you get a ton of it at a very reasonable price.

@porwest I agree. And cheap and plentiful have become even more important words in these days of high prices and inflation.

I have always found Chinese is cheap and plentiful. Besides being delicious, those are two combinations that just work well for me.

Your total is not bad at all. We don’t eat Chinese often. I wouldn’t mind some tonight.

@lovebuglena I don't know exactly, but let's just say, several helpings. I mean, I'd say, if I had to guess on the entrees, for example, they are probably anywhere from 1 quart to 1 1/2 quarts. The Lo Mein is a quart, and the Mei Fun about 1 quart to 1 1/2 quarts, if that helps. We got 4 spring rolls and two egg rolls and 8 crab Rangoon.

Not for what we got, really. And we'll probably get way more out of it than two or three days worth. It's a lot of food. They don't chinch.

I eat Chinese food like once a year these days. I enjoy pork fried rice and egg drop soup. It just doesn't hit the right notes for me these days.

I have not completely decided what we will eat tonight. I know I have some Southwest seasoned chicken soup I am thawing from the freezer. It is entirely possible I will heat up some chicken taquitos to go with it. Yes, frozen food, but the price was right. 15 large taquitos for $7.49, and then it was buy one get one free. So by my figures the taquitos are 25 cents or so apiece. I love the idea of Chinese food, and I have some in my freezer. I will cook up some rice to have as a side dish when we do eat it. $67 for what you got is not bad at all for a treat.

We ate at a little cafe at the mall in McComb yesterday before heading home. We both got muffalettas, which my hubby called a miniletta when delivered to the table. He was expecting a big New Orleans style. It was served on a hogie bun and more the size of a regular sandwich. So much for the leftovers we thought we would be bringing home!

Finished the day with two franks and pork and beans, I love Chinses but haven't had any in ages, I miss the days living in NYC when I could just pop out and find a Chinese take out and get some food,

Before the night we had it, it had been a couple of months. But typically we have Chinese about once or twice a month. Franks and beans is good eats too, although these days if I make it, I use kielbasa.

Chinese sounds so delicious. I'm cooking chicken croquettes with probably baked sweet potatoes and a veggie. Maybe fried corn bread, too.

Chicken croquettes. I am sure I have heard of them, and sure I have had them, but it is alluding me what they actually are. I need to look it up now. Always like to add things to my stable of dishes to make. Although, I will pass on the sweet potato. I just can't do sweet potatoes.

@porwest Oh man, sweet potatoes are like dessert if you put enough brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter. Add pecans and it's scrumptious. I use canned chicken to make croquettes. They're very economical and my family loves them. Can be a little tricky, though to get just right. If you're ever interested, I'll pm you how I make them.

@porwest Yea Spaghetti Is a fattening food for people with T-2-D cause of the carbs & starches, but with the weight I am I need the fattening foods to stay at 150 lbs. I just don't eat as much at a time.
