Interrupted night

Last night I went to bed early. Well, early for me. It was just after midnight. I got my covers all sorted. I got everything done, turned out the light and had trouble falling asleep. But soon, well, it felt soon, I woke up and I was hot. I threw off some covers and didn't think I'd wake up again. I woke up with my 6 a.m. alarm to take medicine. I was still hot, so I took my medicine, grabbed the reacher and knocked over my heater. I was almost instantly cooler, so I grabbed my covers and, again, didn't think I'd fall asleep. And then a phone call woke me up around 7:30. I open my phone and say my normal "WHAT?" Nothing. Closed it and didn't think I'd go to sleep and my 9 a.m. alarm went off to put the dog out. So, while I didn't think I'd go to sleep, I did. Don't ya hate when you think you can't go back to sleep? If you stay still long enough, do you manage to it too?

I close my eyes for very long and I'm asleep. My daughter says I've trained myself to sleep if I get bored. I'm glad you were able to get to sleep.

Me too! I have enough trouble with it as it is without worse insomnia. But it was discouraging before I woke and realized I was asleep.

Yes, I need it too. Us older folks have enough trouble without not sleeping.

If pain woke me up, I usually can’t go back to sleep for anything. But if it was a phone call or a loud noise, and I just stay still, even when I think I won’t, I usually do fall back asleep.

I've learned to sleep with quite a bit of pain. I have a long history of insomnia so this going back to sleep was a blessing.

I tell myself to go to sleep. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I have a long history of insomnia, I remember having it as a child. Another thing I got from Dad.

Erratic sleep like that leaves me exhausted. I hope you felt rested when you got up for the day.

I did, I think mostly because I probably wasn't awake as long as I thought I had been.
