News I haven't share - for a reason

I took a fall back on the 3rd. I fell forward, which saves my back a bit, and I didn't break my nose, again. I scrapped my left knuckles and put a bruise on my chin. Apparently I did further crack my filling and had to have a replacement filling put in. The chin is the more obvious thing, but as my wrist started swelling, I discovered I have a mild sprained wrist. I already don't care for the worst of it, the brace, but I know if I don't wear it, it will take that much longer to heal. But having to adjust to not having full use of my hand is a pain, and not the sprain. I hope your new year is starting off better than mine.

@ElicBxn Well, the road to recovery is a slow road indeed.

@kaylachan Yeah, but this is a pretty mild sprain, so I think I'll be good sooner than I might normally be.

@ElicBxn Yes, that will certainly help out! You might want to consider trying essential oils too to aid in healing.

@kareng I don't know what oils and I don't have cash to buy any either.

I never heal quickly, but I think so long as I mostly keep it in the brace I'll do well...

Me too. I made it almost a year since the last fall. Again there was a reason and not because I just lost my balance.

@DaddyEvil Yes you are. My wife fell and knocked the tip off her femur. She was in the hospital for a few days then in rehab for over a month. The attachments that had been there had to learn new ways of helping her walk.

@ElicBxn I'm glad you don't just get dizzy. That's my problem. I fall a couple of times a week. Luckily, it's mostly on carpet in our house. I DID fall on our front porch two years ago and got a bone bruise on my right hip. I hobbled around for several months. The ER doctor said I was lucky I didn't break my hip.

I have often taken a good bit of time to heal, but this is very minor so I suspect it won't leave any reminders that I don't already get from dislocating it in high school.

Compared to the other falls, I haven't really hurt as badly as I expected. The wrist and chin have been the worse. The chin was at its worse here, has paled well since then.

@sallypup Thanks, it really was only painful when touched. The dentist got it when he steadied a hand there. I am notorious for resting my hand on my chin, and that's seemed to be my favorite spot...

I have had a stumble and fall after Christmas, but no major damage. Yeah, those wrist braces or splints can be the pits. Did you get snow? I know parts of Texas did.

The roommate said she got snow up in the Dallas area. Happily we did not. I think my friend in Kerrville also didn't, but they also didn't get the rain we got here.

I’m glad you didn’t break your wrist. Those things take so long to heal.

Yeah, my sister did that in the spring of 1975. The last weekend of my spring break she was at a Girl Scout thing and fell and broke and dislocated her wrist. That was in mid-late March, she finally got the last cast off in July. She still had to wear a brace for doing anything too much, but this fish was finally able to swim again!

I wonder where to find one. I lost a friend last year to cancer. She and her husband basically bubble wrapped their house when their children were born.

That doesn't sound fun a all. I fell in the stairs here twice, and although it was painful and I it hurt both times, a least I didn't need medical intervention.

In 70+ years I only fell down stairs once and I had my hand on the rail so I caught myself. Okay, maybe I fell down when I was a tot before we moved to Texas, but I don't remember that. I have, however, fallen going up stairs and crushed cartilage and had to get my knee wrapped. I fell up a few other times, but didn't get hurt. Connie used to say I was like the 'Princess and the Pea' because it didn't take much to hurt me and because I couldn't sleep on wrinkled sheets. Well, that latter one isn't true anymore, but I still get hurt pretty easily.

I have never really healed fast, but the chin has faded quickly and the wrist isn't too bad.

It is healing, I mean, after a week it isn't better, but I can tell it is healing.
