Unexpected Afternoon Treat

We had to run into town today to pick up my husband's prescriptions and insulin at the drug store today and as we were leaving he headed in the opposite direction of our house. I asked him, "Where are you going?" Our little town closes down at 1 pm on Saturdays, so I was stumped for a few minutes. He kept driving and then it dawned on me. We were headed to the bakery!
We walked in at 12:58 pm, just as they were starting to close down. The parking lot was full and our car was the last one to fit in there. They have an older lady who come in on Saturdays and plays blues on guitar. She had already stopped playing and all the customers were just hanging out talking.
We made our selections and headed back home. My hubby got a couple of pastries and I blame that all on his brother, who has been bragging on the telephone lately of the new bakery they discovered in New Jersey.
We came home and got a cup of coffee to enjoy our treat. I got an apple fritter and he got the same along with a couple of other items. We both got a bag of donut holes with our order. It was a nice treat!

That sure looks good, I love pastries, I was writing most of the day, Still quite cold here and my cat Tish who like to sunbathe in a window was disappointed because there really asn't much sun but now I can see the sun going down over the Halifax River,

Apple fritters are always good. 
I got a couple of them a few days ago when we did our grocery shopping. Pretty got a cinnamon roll. They're delicious, too.
I just cooked some chicken chunks with onions, garlic and spices to eat with mashed potatoes and Hawaiian rolls for our "lunch".

This place makes huge cinnamon rolls! I think we will be going there a lot more often. Last time we stopped we were headed out of town and got sausage biscuit sandwiches that were 100% better than those from fast food!! So yummy!!
Just taking it easy here and trying to stay warm!! Fixing to hit Ebay and do some new listings!!

@kareng We usually buy cinnamon rolls at Price Cutter. They're the size of a saucer. There used to be a mom and pop place downtown in Aurora that sold cinnamon rolls the size of a plate. Those were delicious!

Yes, it was SO good. I was good and only got 1 item. I think my diabetic husband got 3 and then we got complimentary donut holes. Just what he needed...more sugar! I will keep a watch on the bag of treats and make sure he only eats half of one or no more than one per day.
