I Finally Made It To Aldi's!!

I mentioned earlier that we went to the mall yesterday. It just so happens that Aldi is located on the mall property, but not inside the mall. I needed milk and decided that I would run into Aldi's vs. running into Wally World. The reason being was I was closer to Aldi's and also the store is smaller. That made the trip in and out much quicker. I couldn't resist going down a couple of aisles to check things out. Now did I come out with just milk? NO! I picked up a package of Crab Cakes and also a box of stuffing mix that was under a buck. It's one of those things I keep on hand for pulling off a quick meal. The price of the Crab Cakes was very good. If I remember correctly only $4.99 for the package. Normally, we would pay around $8.99 or more here for Crab Cakes. I did notice that the milk was about the same price or a little less than Walmart's. And eggs were only $2.49 a dozen. That's a big win right now with bird flu on the rise and prices going sky high. This store is not a large grocery and I imagine it is one of their smaller store. There were some other things I would like to try out. They had some nice dips and a lot of cheeses that looked interesting. I didn't have enough time to really look around and do price comparisons, but I will be going back when the hubby is not waiting on me. So what are some of your favorites at Aldi's? And, also good buys? I will make a list to take with me on my next trip! Photo Credit: Pixabays, Public Domain

As soon as I recoop what we spent on car repairs yesterday we will be making a "REAL" grocery trip to Aldi. We have been a couple of times but didn't buy a whole lot. My last two pairs of "Crocs" came from Aldi and they are better than any of the other knock off brands I've bought.

That is good to know. They had some sneakers at the one I went to yesterday that looked pretty good.

@thislittlepennyearns Next trip I will be able to see what is available there at better prices than what I am now paying. I also liked that they had some stuff I haven't seen at our local store or Wally World.

@kareng They have good stuff. And they are priced really well, which is good with the cost of everything being so high right now.

I stopped going to ours. Many of the things were not cheaper than Walmart and if they were it was less than ten cents.

I'm thinking that may be the case here except for a handful of items. We will see!

@wolfgirl569 I'm going to give it another chance and take my time to check prices. I was rushed with the hubster waiting in the car.

@allknowing Yes, it is. I do my share! And it certainly beats going out in the cold. If we had grocery delivery here, I would order groceries online.

Anymore I use it for detergent. I used to do most of shopping there, but it's not as easy on George. So I don't.

I will have to check detergent out whenever I run out. I am good for probably a year with Farmai's laundry detergent that I stocked up on when it was on sale.

@kareng I could pay name-brand prices and order from Walmart, but I've decided that I won't budge. For two reasons, I can get a good long time out of what I do buy. It cleans the clothes and does the job. Secondly, it gets us out of the house and George can get his nails done.

@kaylachan Right. The formula that I am using is concentrated liquid and a bottle will last me for a couple of months with just the two of us in the household. Can't beat that for less than what you would pay for a box of name brand stuff that will also be used up in a month's time.

I still have never been to an Aldi's. The closest one I know of is on the other side of town from where I live. I have a Publix grocery store almost across the street from where I live, so that is by default where I always shop.

@moffittjc There are a lot of Publix stores all over Florida! None that I know of in Louisiana or Mississippi.

@kareng Besides the one closest to my house, ther next two closest stores to me are both Publix stores. They’ve pretty much cornered the market here in Gainesville.

Aldi, as you know, is a great place to shop and save some money, especially if name brands aren't important. There are lots of good buys and I shop there often. They have the cheapest kielbasa anywhere at $2.89. I usually find their eggs are more than expensive than a similar store called Ruler. But I have certain "staples" I buy there often. Their sliced cheese is well priced at $1.89, and the 1 pound shredded cheese packs at #3.99 I find to be good, unless I can get shredded cheese on sale at $1.67 for 8 ounce packs, which is usually done at Schnuck's. Their meats tend to be high for my tastes, but a lot of their produce is the right price. You still have to know your prices, but Aldi is a good place to shop, for sure. Glad you finally made it there.

Yes, it will be a price comparison game for sure. I did notice that frozen pizzas were cheaper there. We are not much on frozen pizza unless emergency and need quick meal. I will try to get back there when the weather is nice and warmer than now.

I used to order from Aldis but they use Instacart service and when Instacart started charging me for gas for the deliveries I turned to Walmart and I have been with them since,

I only went to Aldi's once with my great-aunt. She mentioned a friend of hers said they have the best gingerbread cookies. She bought some and they were really good. Our Aldi's is not close so I wouldn't go too often.

I never come out of a supermarket with just the few items I might I have needed. There is always something else that I grab because it's on sale or whatever.

Toothpaste , detergent and plastic items are cheaper at Aldis. Heard that from my folk in US. I was surprised that the food items were way cheaper than Walmarts. I did not anticipate that. Although having a large store attracts more customer , the maintainence and the rent could be high .That could eat the profits of the store. So smaller store could make sense unless there is huge business and there are lot more things to sell. It is the only logic I could think, Aldi has gone for a smaller store at your place. I should also see to visit Aldis next time I come to the US. Have a great weekend!

There is a super center Walmart on the opposite side of the shopping mall so I'm sure that is why this is not a full size Aldi store.
