Do you ever get leg cramps at night?

One of the things that's interesting about being an "old man" is that I sometimes get leg cramps at night while sleeping.
I wake up and stumble to my kitchen, where I drink cold water from Gatorade bottles (in my fridge), and take in a pinch of salt.
Once I am "cured," I head back to bed.
Leg cramps can be really painful, but I know they are not life-threatening.
Yes, they re still a bother, to quote Pooh.
Do you ever get them?

@DaddyEvil I will try that next time. But in this cold weather, I'm not hobbling to the kitchen for pickle juice!!

@kareng I'm not hobbling when I go for pickle juice. I get muscle cramps in my arms.

True. That's how I cure them. A swallow of pickle juice. The cramps are gone as soon as the pickle juice hits the back of my throat.

Not cramps but I do get the restless leg bother... If I can't will them away, I'll take a gabapentin which does work.

@TheHorse Don't know, don't care as long as it does the trick.

@BarBaraPrz I think it increased Gaba, which suppresses other neurotransmitters in the brain. My Auntie took it for pain.

I don't normally get leg cramps, I get arm cramps. I go to the kitchen and drink a swallow of pickle juice from a jar I keep in the fridge. The cramp stops as soon as the liquid hits the back of my throat and I'm fine after that.
After I'm "cured" I go back to bed but usually, go online for a while.
I agree, they are annoying.

@TheHorse A doctor friend told me he thought it was the salt in the pickle juice that triggered some gland in the back of the throat. (He told me what the gland is called but I can't remember it off-hand.)

I get them at times and honestly I can’t move when they are bad. My leg literally seizes up. When it finally fades away, my lower leg will be red and swollen. I take vitamins and meds but it still happens sometimes. I’m sorry, I know they really hurt.

I honestly drink enough water to float away on...all day long. I hope you can get yours to calm down, too. So very painful.

Yes, sir, all the time. I was going to suggest a swig of pickle juice but it seems you have your own remedies. Cold weather makes mine worse. Actually the fibromyalgia makes mine bad. I also get spasms in my back.

A lot. S Sometimes they'll turn into trimmers and that sucks.

They say leg cramps is due to calcium deficiency.

Oh, yes, the dreaded Charley Horse. I always tell Charley he can come and get the horse he rode in on.
A little trick about Charley Horses: bend your foot in the direction of the cramp. If it’s down your leg, point your toes down; and if it’s up, point your toes up. You’ll be amazed how well it works.
And, as my doctor says, eat a banana.

@vandana7 — my potassium is habitually low. We should get together.
