I have some heavy whipping cream in the refrigerator that needs to be used. I thought I was going to need it for holiday desserts, but didn't. Time is running out before it goes bad. So what would be your choice in making something with heavy whipping cream? I am leaning toward a cake, but open to other suggestions. Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

That does sound delicious, but I won't be going back to any grocery store before Wednesday at the earliest.

How about old fashioned strawberry shortcake? Make biscuits, cover with strawberries, then the heavy cream (not whipped.) Haven't had that since I was a child.

@1creekgirl However, if I do go to town I will look at our one little store and see if the strawberries look any good. We will have bumper local crops in March/April here. I don't think the cream will last that long though

Yes, that would be good. But, I'm not going out to any grocery store in the next few days.

You can use it in alfredo sauce. I find that the cream keeps really well regardless of the use by date. Make hot chocolate and top it with whipped cream, or as @NJChicaa says put a little on some fruit. When I make whipped cream I use powdered sugar as the cornstarch in it stabilizes the whipped cream.

I'm partial to just fresh sliced strawberries with whipped cream. (I add a splash of vanilla and a sprinkle of sugar to the cream when whipping it)

@NJChicca Go hog wild and spoon in some baking cocoa when you're whipping the cream.

@NJChicaa We put cocoa into the whipped cream one Easter. Our guest could not stay out of the stuff.

@kareng They are very much like your 'biscuits' I think. The simplest are made by rubbing butter into flour then adding milk to make a soft dough. There are variations on this of course.
