Hot and fits on a spoon / myLot

I began simmering barley this morning. It cooked into a soft edible mush. I then added buillon for salt and flavor, chopped in a carrot and dumped some onion chunks from the freezer. Later I added canned garbanzos. Cheap and hot for a mildly cold day. I sprinkled in chili powder when I gave hubby his portion. Of course we finished with the end of yesterday's birthday cake. Tasty enough and filling and yes, pretty cheap food.

Sorry, soft edible mush just doesn't sound good to me, but I do like barley in soup.

I’m allergic to garbanzo beans

canned ones anyway probably not the kind you cook but they don’t stay fresh as long after you cook them.

@sallypup it’s a preservative they use to keep them from turning brown EDTA I think. That’s what bothers me. I get hives from some other things that use that as well but I never can remember what else it’s in.
