Now, I know, I know. @NJChicaa will undoubtedly offer me up some puke faces. I swear, I could make a bacon wrapped filet mignon with a Parmesan garlic bechamel sauce and she'd likely give me puke faces.
That's because I am Porwest and even if something is not slop, it's slop to her. Hey, it gives us just one more thing to argue about.
I swear, all said, I believe we are the Hannity and Combs of myLot, rest in peace Sean Combs. Oh wait, that's P. Diddy. The Hannity nemesis was Alan.
In any event, I like to make hot dogs for dinner from time to time, although that's not tonight's dinner. Tonight, I am making beef enchiladas. To me it's just such a cheap and easy meal, and while I don't want to have it every night, it still works as a good enough meal to fill the belly and keep the wallet from wheezing.
Usually I buy a package of bun length Bar-S hot dogs for $4.59 at Ruler. I divide them into 3 packages of 8 since there are 24 in a package. So, that's about $1.50 for the hot dogs. Another buck for the buns. I buy boxes of macaroni and cheese for 49 cents at Ruler. And if I make a veggie, which I usually do, that's another buck.
All said, this delicious puke face warranting meal costs about $4. I call that good eats and cheap, cheap food. My cardiologist might disagree with me, but who the hell cares what he thinks?
Do you ever like to have a really cheap and easy meal? Is it hot dogs? Or what's your really easy go to cheap meal? I want to know because I want more easy cheap meal options.

With the cost of food rising through the roof, it's hard to find a cheap food option today.
My go-to lately has been tuna mac and cheese. It's not cheap the way I make it, but I'm sure using your box of mac and cheese and adding tuna to it would make it a cheap meal.

@just4him Oh I had forgotten about tuna mac! Probably because my hubby doesn't care for it! I think I'll make some for lunch tomorrow!! Thanks for the reminder!!
I don't mind Great Value's boxed mac and cheese at all. I hate Kraft's! I just toss in a bit of shredded cheese at the end of mixing and that makes a world of difference!

I have never really ever considered making that. But it can't be bad. Usually, I will make a tuna casserole with egg noodles or macaroni noodles with cream of mushroom soup and a couple of other ingredients, and that's always good, and I think fairly inexpensive.

Aren’t hot dogs basically beef Wellington for a different money class?

@porwest — whatever works! I haven’t had a hot dog in ages, though.

@FourWalls I cannot say the same. Man, nothing like tossing a hot dog into the microwave and cooking it just before it splits a little bit and then slapping it diagonally across a piece a bread with a little ketchup or mustard, mood depending, rolling it up and slapping that bad boy into your muzzle. lol

@kareng I have tried to follow my salt restriction, but I admit it's hard to do. So long as I go in and the doc tells me my BP is fine and the meds are working...I'll just keep it in the back of my mind without trying to overthink it too much.

When I am too tired to cook a local dish, I just have hotdogs, though not frequently.

@kareng I like chili dogs, but my wife doesn't. Which is weird to me because she does like sloppy joes. Granted, the flavors are different. But she likes chili, and she likes hot dogs, so how it is possible she doesn't like them together? lol
