What kind of books do you read? Do you still read a lot (if you ever did)?

I don’t read like I did when I was younger, but then I don’t do much like I did when I was younger. I read non fiction books for the most part, but of course, that covers a lot of topics. Laurie Notaro, A.J. Jacobs, Atul Gawande, Patsy Clairmont, and Mary Roach are varied authors that entertain me. Of course, I like reading about sports too. You know me and sports. What kind of books do you enjoy reading? Do you still read a lot?

The cover of that book intrigues me. I am reading less than I used to, Daughter gave me a fascinating book about art- its written by the guy who created Dinotopia.

Interesting seems like such an ordinary word to describe how your book sounds.

@AmbiePam Art grabs me. The illustrations in old timey kid's books- just wow. Have you read the Wind in the Willows? If nothing else go to Amazon and look that book up and have a grand time looking at the various folks who have illustrated the scenes. Each one is a heart thumper.

Do you like horror movies as well? Reading a horror novel would scare me more than seeing the film.

@AmbiePam It depends a lot. I don't enjoy the ones that are just killing and blood. But if they have a story line I do.

I don't read much these days which is sad. I used to be a voracious reader. I'm mostly fiction--Outlander (of course), Jane Green, Elin Hilderbrand, Jodi Picoult, etc.(for recent authors)

I've never read a lot. I don't find it an enjoyable activity in itself. If I read, it's usually for research or for another specific reason. I own lots of books and will dip in to them occasionally. I used to read a lot of children's books but I did work I nurseries then! Other than that (and the very short ones I wrote myself), I think the last I read all the way through was the Harry Potter series. I tend to read things about mysteries, myths and legends, and weird science.

I don’t read like I did when I was younger, but then I don’t do much like I did when I was younger. LOL--me, neither. I did used to read a lot when I was a kid, though I'm getting back into reading. Like then, I very much prefer fiction. I like mysteries, young adult books, and graphic novels. Anne Perry, Frank Peretti, Rick Riordan, and others.

Frank Peretti, good one! Have you ever heard of Gilbert Morris? He writes Christian mysteries, and he did a 5 book series years ago that were about a female private detective. My sister and I used to devour his books. I might have mentioned him before. He also wrote a mystery book series with his daughter.

I was a very avid reader as a preteen and teenager. I read a fair bit still during my 20's but during my mid 30's and beyond I feel like I have read less regularly and do more binge reading. That is how I read now, read a couple of books and then not read again for a couple of months and so on. I like reading anything from local historians, I find that fascinating. I also like John Paul Evans and Nicholas Sparks work.

I grew up reading P.G. Wodehouse, Tony Hillerman, Mark Twain, Larry McMurtry, and others. I read a bit less than I did a few years. But I still enjoy reading.

I have been a reader my entire life. My kids will attest to the fact that Mom was known to even sacrifice a night's sleep to be able to read a book that she just couldn't put down. I used to be all over the place with what types of books I read. I love history, real or historical fiction. Anya Seton, Eugenia Price,Gwen Bristow, Bess Streeter Aldrich---stories about America being settled, I like reading biographies as well. I really do not like cliffhanger mysteries. as I said, I am all over the place, and I do love old books and old stories. Just chalk me up for reading books that others never heard of!
