Do you still have any of the papers you wrote in high school or college?

Nowadays, many of the things we write are stored on a computer. But when I was in high school, most or all of our papers were hand-written. In college, I typed my papers on a Smith Corona electric type writer. @FourWalls may know what song is now playing in my head. I cannot say "Smith Corona" or "Smith and Wesson" without that song coming into my head. I think I still have some of my high school and college papers stored on a certain bookshelf. I may amuse myself one day by finding those old papers and rereading them. Do you still have any of your old papers? Photo is of me, as seen by my piano student, Alee.

I don't have any of the papers I used to write. Even some of my magazine articles are missing. I moved a number of times from state to state since then. You lose stuff when you move. There might be a pile stored in some forgotten place. We survived fires and floods but my stuff did not do so well. Life is like that so I have nothing of the past.

I lost my only photo album in a move. Pretty sad.

@TheHorse Yeah, that is sad. By chance, did you share any photos with friends or family? They might have some of them on the internet and you could ask them to share with you to get at least a few of the photos back. It is worth a try.

@akalinus I left the album behind before the internet was really "a thing."

Well, pawn that Smith-Corona, but don’t go to meet your man. Alvarado Street might be in the path of a fire. (PS: ever ate at Pioneer Chicken? DANG that stuff was awful.) Oh, as for the question, no, I don’t have any of the papers, per se. One of the projects I worked on during college was made into a book, and I have a copy of that…if that counts.

Did they disappear during moves? That's how many of my memories slip away.

@akalinus She and I have a good time together. In my book, I have to change the names of all of the kids and adults I'm writing about.

I didn't think I still had some that were typewritten but going through a few saved papers, I found the one I wrote in Behavioral Science about homeless. This was back in 1991 and I painstakingly typed on an old 1929 Royal typewriter my mom gave me to use. Pretty sure that is why I kept that particular paper. My last before graduation, I typed on a computer my boss allowed me to use on my lunch break. Later, I took a few courses for special education and other psychology and philosophy courses and those were saved and put in email subfolders. Still have them.

@TheHorse Hard to believe I could type on one of those back then. I messed with one recently and was hard.

No, Pretty threw stuff like that away when we were trying to unload everything we didn't need before moving into this small house. We still brought too much stuff with us for this house. The garage is half full of things we didn't want to get rid of... and haven't looked at in over 7 years now. We need to go through everything out there and donate it or throw it away.

I did my graduation in computer science and Engineering. I did save my seminar and college project book. It is always special. It brings a memory of hard work and unsure future. Once a while , when cleaning the cupboard I do see them and sometimes I just look through the pages. Sometimes read a page or two .I do not think I remember most of the things I did for the seminar or project. But then it was fun keeping them. And they were all computer printed . Glad to know you have kept the papers for long. I can undertsand the feeling of having typed the papers in an electric type writer. Take care!

Sometimes I can remember what I was thinking (or drinking) as I typed my college papers.
