Public nuisance.

One of the drawbacks in making use of a computer in the public library (which thing I am currently doing) is that public libraries tend to attract people with issues. It's so good that they have somewhere safe and warm in which to spend a while, but problems tend to accompany them.
There's a troubled man two computers down from me muttering to himself loudly and drumming on the desk. Another man is seated at a table not far away eating takeaway food and stinking the place out. Someone is humming the same few bars of a tune over and over again and someone else's phone keeps ringing but he never answers. "Music" is leaking out of someone's headphones and then there's me. I dread to think what awful habit of mine is driving everyone else crazy.

Poor you, our library is large and you can spread out so as not to be on top of people like that..Plus most don't use the computers and if they do, they have private study kiosks of a sort so that no one bothers you. Also, eating is banned in the library so you don't have to smell anyone's food. The only issue that bothers me in the library is rather than being quiet some people will talk in a normal or above normal voice. Whatever happened to be being quiet in a library?

@snowy22315 The worst offenders for loud conversations are the librarians and their conversations are never interesting.

@snowy22315 But they do. They have the shrillest voices ever and they go right through me.

Is there another library? Habits make this world go around.

They certainly are a convenient place for people who have nowhere else to go. Of course that's a good thing! But it can be annoying too.
There is one large library near here which always seems unnaturally quiet, I don't know why because it has good facilities. Maybe because it's a bit of a walk from the shops and has no parking anywhere near any more. It used to be next to the swimming pool and there was at least some parking nearby, but now the swimming pool has been demolished and replaced with flats and all parking anywhere round about has been made residents only and almost all the roads have been made into no through roads.
