Do you edit your MyLot comments before you post them?

I am not a very good typist. Plus my keyboard is worn down, so I can't always see what I am typing. And some of my keys work "sometimes."
I tend to re-read my posts and comments before submitting them. But I still wind up with typos in my posts and comments.
Yes, I can be OCD and correct old posts or comments. Or insert a "sic" just for fun.
Do you read your own posts or comments before submitting them?

I try to catch a typo when I'm trying but there's always some that sneak through. I have less typos on my laptop than when I'm trying to myLot on my phone.

I probably should, but it would take more time then I care to spend on a post. Apple will auto-correct a lot of my mistakes anyway.

@TheHorse I don't doubt I've done that, but since they literally sound the same, I typically wouldn't know if I did, unless someone pointed it out to me. I'd have to go word-by-word- letter-by-letter for that.

Yes (edit) no (edit) maybe (edit) I don’t know.
If I see a glaring typo or I read the comment and think that I really didn’t make myself clear I’ll go back and edit it.

@FourWalls Am I the fist person in the world to use (sic) for an emoji? I want to be known for something!

I always read my comments over and fix any mistakes. Also, if I spot a mistake on a comment I’ve made a while back I will go ahead and fix it. I hate typos!

@TheHorse it’s interesting how we can read something we wrote many times and still not see a typo we made.

I had typing when I was in high school. I know all of the letters and how to position my fingers. Some of the letters on my laptop are worn so it helps to know where they are. I usually read my posts before I submit them but sometimes I just edit them several times. I do see where some folks have spelling issues too. Doesn't everyone have the spell correct thing automatically on the PCs?

I try to look over them before I post. Sometimes I miss a few here and there, but for the most part I think I type them out accurately. I type kind of fast though lol.

But can it catch "brainos"? Some of my (American) students still confuse "there," "they're" and "their." @Xander6464 says it happens even in Iowa, where most people are "above average."

I type my posts on a notepad program, and reread it several times, before pasting it into mylot, where I then reread it, once more. That way, I tend to pick up the mistakes, but when one still slips through, I will try to correct it later, when I read it again to answer a response.

Did you read the book "Kitchen Table Wisdom" by Rachel Naomi Remen? In it she says our imperfections are a part of what make us beautiful. She is an oncologist and had some interesting insights from working with people under stress.

@porwest I think I did a review of that book on Epinions many years ago. Are we allowed to post old posts on MyLot, so long as we acknowledge they were on another site before? I am not sure. @GoAskAlice? Apologies for my ignorance. I just plug along and try to be "good."

Yes, I do. I read them and make corrections before submitting. And there have been few times when I did realise the mistake after posting and then edited it immediately.

Sometimes I edit it right after I hit the submit button, because of the wrong and worst grammar. I know my grammar is not perfect, but I usually edit it when even I - can't take it while I proof read it. Lol! I hope everyone who is fluent in english will be able to forgive it.

I do a quick read of my comments and in case there are spelling mistakes , I do correct them. So I do edit them in case I have posted. I only look at my comments which I am posting for a current discussion and do not search for my responses for old ones. I try to read my comments before submitting but then at times you are caught in the speed of writing and going to next discussion. So , it is the quick reading. Also , as I spend a limited tim in mylot everyday need to make the best of the time here. Hence quick reading and posting would be the thing for me in mylot. Glad to know how you are doing the comments and posting. Take care!
