When JFK was assassinated L B Johnson took over the Oval Office. He was a real piece of work. Ego maniac that he was he was not a popular president. "The Johnson Treatment" was where he would corner his aids, grip their hand real tight, and lean in really close (he was 6 foot 4). He figured the more intimidated they are the more apt they would be to agree with him. Then there was his male situation... More than a few people had seen it. Lawmakers, cabinets, press, leaders, etc. He called it "Jumbo". He would take his meetings in the bathroom supposedly to assert dominance. If he wasn't close to a bathroom he would go where ever he was. He was also known to take his meetings completely in the nude. He once invited a reporter named Frank Courier onto the presidential plane for an interview after an event. It was a hot day and Johnson just took off all of his clothes including his underwear. Johnson smoked two packs of cigarettes a day and drank alcohol like a fish. He also passed the Food Stamp Act and he made it possible for black Americans to vote. Of course, he was unpopular too because he pushed to get America into the Vietnam War. There were several other odd presidents: President Harding had many affairs. He said that it was a good thing he was not a woman because he would always be pregnant. He is also the only US President to be successfully blackmailed by a mistress. He had at least four mistresses. Glover Cleveland married his wife who he had known since her birth. Ugh! He was nearly 50 and she was 21. I'm sure there is much more.
